As well as the Mets have been playing, I don't think the long layoff is going to benefit them much. KC is playing just as well and are going to want to redeem themselves for their Game 7 loss to SF last season. KC Yosts in 6.

It's strange not having any baseball for three days after having a barrage of it over the past couple of weeks.

As tmwiese55 pointed out in the Championship Series thread, the Mets' rotation is so good that there isn't any real need to "reset" it. KC's rotation is good too, and while they're more likely to benefit somewhat by resetting, they have plenty of time to do it. I think the layoffs will likely have about an equal effect on each team.

Ned! Back to back World Series appearances. Hopefully this time he'll win one.

Lineups are almost interchangeable. Put a lights out bullpen and a competent starting rotation around either lineups and they are a good squad.

The FOX TV feed has pooped out. I'm listening to the Royals' radio broadcast, and there's a game delay. The guys have no clue what's going on, but they're speculating that replay might be out too.

At this moment, there's a picture of the international feed on FOX, but no sound. MLB.TV is providing both picture and sound from the international feed (Matt Vasgersian, et. al.).

Leadoff double... have a guy bunt who didn't have a sac bunt all season. Nedly gonna Ned.

I had just earlier this evening tried to explain to my wife why Yost is such a bad manager. We turn the game on to see Cain trying to bunt a guy to third base with no outs. There you go.

What a great AB from Wilmer Flores. Awesome plate discipline, fouling back one pitch after another, then drawing a walk.

It will be interesting to watch Flores and Zack Wheeler from a distance. I think they'll both be very, very good players.

Gonna be hard to top last night. Wonder who the extra innings hurts more. The Mets don't have nearly the bullpen the Royals do but if both pens get thin the Mets superior starting pitching might negate that advantage. Last night I saw Bartolo Colon for the first time this year when he as warming up in the pen. My first thought was why were they showing Don Zimmer warming up?

Alcides Escobar might be a decidedly mediocre player, but he is absolutely owning October.

He already took the ALCS MVP, and now he's putting in a strong case for WS MVP as well.
