You have to take the good with the bad on these in-game threads. 3 or 4 years ago these in-game threads were one of the best parts of this message board. The conversation was insightful and clever and people really didn't over react to the ebb and flow of individual games like many do now. That isn't necessarily a bad thing... But I do agree with you that the immaturity grinds on you at times. I mainly come here if I miss something live and need an update on an injury or a play or something. Otherwise it is hard for me to stomach the "youthful" turn these in game threads have taken...

3 years ago (2015) the IGTs were basically nonexistent. There was really no conversation or anyone to overreact to anything. Almost all the threads were 1 or 2 pages.

 

4 years ago (2014) was basically the same as now. Pick any long random IGT and you'll see what I mean. Emotion comes with expectations. 2016 was probably the year you are thinking of because we were full blown rebuilding and no one really cared much about the day to day win/loss results.

The way the pitching has been lately is really starting to make me nervous. Not that I thought any of these guys were stars, but with our second half track record, the jitters are starting to creep in for me. At no point did I expect a division titles, and I still don't, but how bad will it look if we trade for Manny Machado, the pitching collapses and we miss the playoffs completely?

 

Trying not to overreact here, and we've basically avoided a truly horrific losing stretch the entire season to this point, but in the back of my head I've thought the SP would fall off at some point this year, just didn't want to believe it.
