Mike Fiers...

Could Mike Fiers be a rotation boost that is relatively cheap?

ERA is 3.49, which would be second-best of the starters.

He is under control for 2019, so it's not a total rental.

Tigers get:

SS Orlando Arcia

RHP Luis Ortiz

Brewers get:

RHP Mike Fiers

LHP Austin Sodders (minors)

I don't think I'd give either Oritz or Arcia straight up for Fiers.

Why not try to package Ortiz, Woodruff and Santana together and acquire a better, cost-controlled young starter with a higher ceiling?

Doubt that would get us deGrom or Thor, but Stroman, Gausman or Bundy are possibilites.

And I agree on not selling Arcia low.

I think the Brewers need his defense at SS more now than ever.

Clancy, stop trying to trade Arcia. He is not going anywhere, case closed.

Moving shaw to 2b has guaranteed Arcia at SS in my mind. We need his range

If Shaw is really at 2B (and I doubt it) , Arcia is here to stay.

Thank you.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Um... his OPS is still below .500. The average is .193.

Jim Gantner wasn't as offensively inept, and I hated seeing Gantner's name in the lineup.

Gantner was my least-favorite Brewer. He did nothing for the offense.

Arcia's worse than Gantner.

Is there a good reason NOT to find some sucker - GM who will overvalue defense to get some value for Arcia????

This tells me two things, you don't understand the value of defense nor the concept of selling low.

Well, he did want to replace Arcia with Ryan Cordell at one point so.........yeah..........

Cordell had a useful bat.

Arcia has yet to show one.

You're entitled to your opinion.

Arcia hit .277, 15hr, 53rbi in a 2017 so not sure what reality you're living in.

False. He showed a very useful bat last season.

At the major league level none-the-less. Which is something Cordell hasn't even sniffed. In fact, outside of Colorado Springs, Cordell hasn't been very good at any level above High A.

Back to Fiers, I think he'd be a very good low-cost option to help get them to the playoffs and then shorten the rotation to leverage the great bullpen they have.

Sure but not sure the Tigers would give him up at a low cost to our liking, I think their system is already pretty stacked so they could just keep him and hope to bounce back next year. I know with Fulmer they have said they want #2 starter like return and no one will pay that, Fiers seems similar to a lot of guys who are available. I don't want to overpay for a guy who really may not be much better than what we have. No way I would give up Ortiz for him.
