I guess I’m a little surprised by the meltdown of some fans. This team is just not in a position roster wise to make a run. They’ve been on fumes for awhile now.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Freitas is a below average defensive C, with a bad pop time, and Counsell is not gonna C him, but he’s a real good hitter. You haven’t seen that YET. Not exactly easy to get in back in a rhythm with 1 AB a game. He’ll get some big pinch hits this month.

With those mechanics..... Not going to happen.

No one hits .387 anywhere with bad mechanics. Nice try though.

And even with all that, the pitching staff that CC is orchestrating has only given up 2-runs through 8 innings.

Hader did well. Was put in a terrible situation with no margin for error and minimized the damage. If we can't win now, it's on the offense.

I agree completely, but the math is the math. If you are playing to have the best chance at the playoffs, Hader is the only move in the 8th, right? I mean, I am open to a good argument that it's not, but I am having a hard time finding one myself.

Maybe we put a 7'run inning, and it's moot. Hope so.

I get the passion from the CC haters, but come on. Somebody else in that bullpen has to get outs. Otherwise what are we even talking about here? Guerra and Pomeranz are pitching high leverage innings between now and the end of the season. If they’re such sure losers, which seems to be the general consensus, then we’re doomed, and CC pitching Hader in a tie game to start the 8th tonight won’t change anything. It makes absolutely no difference. Might as well accept the finality of it all and find some peace.

Pomeranz SO/9 is over 14 as a Brewer. Counsell probably should have went with Hader but it’s not like Hader has been 2018-Hader. Counsell has his hands tied everywhere with this roster.

I don't think people are melting down. Just would like to treat today and tomorrow as must win games, because they are. These are, in essence, playoff games for us.

Regardless of outcome we still probably won't make it but these 2 games have to be treated differently.

And you still need other pitchers not named Hader to do their jobs. It happened a season ago as much as people want to just remember Hader.

Tie game in the 8th you have to at least be prepared for extras, I think. Junior isn't great, but he isn't NEARLY as bad as many have made him out to be.
