Pizza Hut, Papa's, whatever, most of it is "fine" to me, it's just that once you move around and have authentic pies you start to realize your opinions on pizza from high school weren't especially well formed.

Absolutely! Pizza Hut in Monroe in the 1980s was The Bomb and The Place To Be after every high school event. Once I moved to Madison, I found non-chain pizzas and have for the most part never looked back.

I brought a pizza home tonight from Glass Nickel Pizza on Bluemound & Elm Grove Rd. Contact free drop off into my car.

It's good, if pricey. They're pretty generous with toppings.

It's a step up from Domino's and Pizza Hut, etc. Big, foldable slices.

Anybody indulge in the use of hot sauce on pizza? My group of friends got into this a few years back, I don't really have any sauces to recommend, I tended to go for the basic Frank's RedHot which I really like on pizza. My friends seemed to be trying to have a contest for who could handle the hottest sauce, I tend to go for medium heat and good flavor over trying to be overly masculine and going for the hottest sauce.

I haven't but I don't think it's so different from putting the red pepper flakes on there.

Absolutely!

I enjoy that, and I also enjoy pouring salsa on as well. This helps especially with cheap frozen pizzas. I wouldn't necessarily do it on a take out pizza, but frozen pizzas for sure!

I put taco sauce, tapatio, or chalula on mine.

For taco pizza yes. Not other pizza.

I eat plenty of spicy foods, but I like pizza the way it is. But I've heard people like Siracha on pizza too.

Eating the spiciest food doesn't show manlyness...it shows a persons stupidity. Your tolerance for spicy foods is a function of how often you eat it. I have friends from India and Thailand that would kill you with what they eat.

So true, I like the Mango Habanero sauce at BWW and one of my buddies always has to order blazin or whatever the other hot one is when we go, and he never finishes it. When he goes without me he always gets the Honey BBQ or something - according to his wife.

I do at home with frozen pizzas. Just a dollop here and there to make it interesting. Not uniformly. Unless the crust is big and dryish, then I'll do a side of ranch for the crust and put some hot sauce on the ranch. Hot sauces I like for pizza are: (from mildest to hottest, the list goes) green Tabasco, Secret Aardvark, Famous Dave's Wilbur's Revenge.

Also, if I make a frozen pizza at home I pretty much always add jalapeños and onions.

Real fresh parmesan, cracked black pepper and a few dashes of Cholula.

I love adding Cholula to my pizzas. Not every time, but it spices things up nicely. I used to be a Franks Red Hot guy, but Cholula offers a better flavor for pizza (and most items). I would do Franks on Wings and such. But as an overall flavor and spice enhancer, it's hard to top unless you want to add stupid heat.

I haven't tried Cholula on pizza, I tend to favor Valentina over Cholula but they're both good. I like using it on refried beans when I go for Mexican food, I mix the rice in with the beans and good amount of Valentina.

I don't do Franks on pizza as much as I used to, I found out that if I get too carried away with it I'll get heartburn. There was a time, and I think this was even a tagline for Franks, but I would put that stuff on just about everything. Not anymore lol.

I've actually been ordering just cheese and jalapeno pizzas lately, it's a nice change up for when I get tired of my typical go to of pepperoni and pineapple.

Wait, do you not order pepperoni + pineapple + jalapeno? It's my favorite pizza combination!

If I have time, and ingredients, I doctor up my frozen pizzas at home. Sausage and veggies on frozen pizza is gross. I Aaways get cheese/pepperoni Palermos thin and then add fresh chopped green peppers, green onions, whatever I have around. Then, no matter what pizza I have, I use a lot of red pepper flakes.

There are restaurants around that have hot giardiniera as a topping you can add, I get that once and a while but it's not my stand-by.

Totally agree, that's why I get Jack's half cheese/half pepperoni. I like Jack's sauce the best, and then I'll add my own cheese - I get a bag of shredded mixed gourmet cheddar (Roundy's brand, about $2.50 on average, enough to enhance about 4-5 pizzas) and maybe put some veggies on if I have them.

If I didn't put my own cheese on them, I probably wouldn't get Jack's. But the gourmet cheddar makes a world of difference, and only costs about an additional $0.50 - $0.75/pizza.

If any of you live around the Fox Valley, try Village Pub Pizza for frozen pizza. They have them in all the supermarkets and some gas stations around here. Ever since I tried one a few years ago I don't think I've ever bought another frozen pizza brand.

I usually have mushrooms that I add to frozen pizza. Fresh whole ones I cut. Big upgrade to a cheap frozen pizza.

Yeah, I love doing this. And doubling the mozzarella to boot. But I don't do it that often as my wife normally has them cooking when I get off work (and she hates mushrooms, so she doesn't do it).

I'll give it a try, I have done pepperoni and jalapenos. I usually order chain pizzas and many of the coupons I use are for 1 or 2 toppings but sometimes they have 3 topping coupons available that are in my preferred price range. Getting jalapenos on my pizza is a very recent development but they have quickly moved up on my list of go to toppings of late.

I've never had it but I am willing to try it because I am open-minded about such things.
