2020-08-25: Reds (Castillo) at Brewers (Woodruff) [Brewers win, 3-2 -- Gamel’s defensive forceout at home preserves lead]

I'm curious if Woodruff and Burnes are still stretching out a bit or not. Woodruff especially seems to be lights-out initially then starts to struggle in the 4th or 5th inning.

This is proving prophetic this evening.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

What was that call???? Bizarre safe call from the home plate ump.

Just following on Gameday...what happened?

Looping line drive that dropped just in front of Gamel, runner had to hold up because he wasn't sure if it would be caught. Gamel threw home and got the force out.

The home plate umpire called Galvis safe initially. He apparently thought Gamel caught the ball in the outfield and didn’t realize it was a force out at home. After Narvaez and Counsell simultaneously screamed at him he changed his call from safe to out (about 10 seconds after the initial call).

Hopefully a good gut check for Woodruff to get out of what looked like another meltdown inning. Little bit of defensive help from Gamel and Narvaez certainly made the difference.

Brewers have gotten a couple of huge breaks in this game. Need to take advantage
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
