I don't know off hand what Burnes season high for pitches is, but he's only at 79 through 6. I hope they let him keep going.

Of course, getting Rasmussen more work would be cool too.

This helps the run differential.

At what point is Burnes a legitimate Cy Young candidate?

He's likely got four starts left after today. If he can go 4-0, average 7 innings a start, and the team makes the playoffs ... he still probably doesn't stand a chance against the much more recognizable Darvish and DeGrom.

Yeah he'd have to hope that Darvish and DeGrom sort of implode.

Got to be Darvish at this point.

Ps the fact that you can legitimately ask that question without being laughed off the board is really exciting.......

.@Burnes16 has thrown 19.0 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. Lowers his season ERA to 1.99. Burnes has allowed just 22 hits in 45.1 innings this season with 64 strikeouts. Opponents are batting .142.

Uecker: "One time our offense exploded for a big inning. Then the manager finally turned to me and said, 'Grab a bat and stop this rally.' "

I'm conceding Burnes won't win. Competition is too good. I guess I should clarify candidacy in this case by asking, is he a top 5 guy in voting?

We're back!! We're going to win the World Serieis!!!!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
