Shaw's kind of back in the neighborhood of more realistic statistical expectations this year. Still think it's likely that 3B might be something we want to look at in July.

30% strikeout rate, .280ish OBP and he's not hitting the ball hard. It was worth a shot because our other options were so bad but it was always the most likely scenario that he wouldn't be good.

He's been a streaky hitter since forever. Nothing about what he's doing now is surprising. The key is how long it's going to take for him to get hot again.

Guess it’s going to be a bullpen day. What a disastrous start to this series.

Edit: Adam McCalvy points out this is the first game of a stretch for the Brewers where they’ll be playing 17 games over the next 17 days.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Shaw's wRC+ is 92.

But last 14 and last 7 days it's 73 and -3... that's getting mighty cold.

Get ready to be reacquainted with Eric Lauer.

Could be but I'd prefer them call up somebody that can actually get hitters out.

Not 100% sure who that would even be. Maybe one of the guys they got from the Braves for Arcia?

[sarcasm]Well he is a certified Dodger-killer and they do have them coming up on the schedule.[/sarcasm]

This is why another starter would've been nice. Anderson couldn't even get through the 60 game season last year without getting hurt and has gone over 100 innings twice in 9 years. It's not great that our 6th and 7th starters are Josh Lindblom and Eric Lauer.

This has all the feel of being one of those run differential killers we look back on three months from now as an example the Brewers' actual record far and away exceeds what their Pythag record says it should be...

When they put Anderson on the IL, can they just release Lindblom at the same time? Won't happen of course but he just doesn't belong in the majors.

What is the over/under on the number of position players that get to pitch today? Edited by sauveb
