Thank goodness Keston.

Interesting route to the ball by marte.

I'm playing Monopoly with the family, so I'm relying on Eucker's description. He made it sound good.

This decision by Counsell could be questioned.

If Burnes is going to come out if he puts a man on base he might regret not using a PH there. On the other hand, Burnes on 100 pitches may be a better option than anyone in the bullpen, especially there are guys they want to hold out today.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

He hit it hard but Marte turned the wrong way and then did a 360.

Marte is already playing deep in CF and it was a line drive over his head. I’m not sure the route ended up mattering, I don’t think he was going to catch that ball regardless.

I am surprised but guess it is just that they need 7 from him with the state of the bullpen and it is a close game. Leave him in until he gives up a base runner, it seems like that was the way someone with 90+ pitches has been handled in the past

First Brewers pitcher to record 13 strikeouts since Freddy Peralta’s Mother’s Day gem in 2018.

Career high for Burnes, according to McCalvy just the 14th start in Brewers history where a pitcher recorded 13+ strikeouts.

Great game by Burnes. And great call by CC letting him go back out for the 7th inning. He’s done that a few times recently and his pitchers have rewarded him. Great to see.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Agreed, that probably wasn’t an easy call but Burnes looked so good that I’m glad he rode with him. Now need just 6 outs from the bullpen.

If Hader isn't available, I think Burnes has to go back out. A combination of Milner/Boxberger/Suter/Williams to cover three innings isn't encouraging.

This is always one of those things fans don’t know. If any of the usual relievers are unavailable it’s going to affect the moves the managers make. Given the workloads the last few days you have to wonder if they are trying to avoid one or more of Boxberger, Williams, and Hader.

I agree that Taylor is going to be around awhile. He has shown he can handle the more irregular life of a bench player, which gives him at the worst a chance to stick around for quite awhile as a pretty competent 4th OFer

Also valuable as a pinch hitter.

According to Statcast, the Brewers average expected batting average today is .305 versus just .145 for the Dbacks.
