Remember before when I said that I couldn't think of anything else that could go wrong...

... turns out that the attached garage parking spot that supposedly contractually came with my condo does not align with the plat survey and I am actually assigned an exterior space.  Even though the MLS listing and contract say I am assigned a garage space, and even though I've been living here for five years and have always had that spot and the previous two owners of the unit that the spot is  aligned to in the declarations and plat survey have never said anything.

Well, someone closed on that unit on Wednesday, noticed the discrepancy after the declarations were sent but didn't say anything, and now is demanding access to the garage spot.  Even though their executed contract and MLS listing explicitly says they are assigned an exterior space.

I'm not sure if that would be covered by title insurance? But it might be worth checking. We purchased our house, and the second time we refinanced someone doing the title search noticed that an earlier foreclosure had not been processed correctly. We bought it from the people who bought it out of foreclosure, so it made it through 2 owners and 3 different titles searches before being caught. In our case we were contacted once by an attorney who was paid by the title insurance company to fix the problem and that was it. I suspect yours since there is an actual dispute involve will be far more complicated so best of luck.

Getting the Wisconsin Department of Education to communicate with me in any form….. the worst public relations.
They do not have a phone number… well, they do, but fat chance at speaking with anyone. It was super bad before Covid. It’s worse now. They do not return emails. I have case # emails that look professional and organized with assurances that someone is going to look into it Nah. They a are batting 0-5 on this over 2021 and 2022. Love to hear with someone who has had success with them.

Went to the Dells recently. All fast food indoor restaurants we visited were sooo messy. Trash overflowing, tables not wiped, dirty floors. Young worker kids standing around…I, the customer, could have cleaned  those areas in 20-30 minutes by myself. Crazy bad, especially for food services

Speaking of the Dells, I had to go to the Kalahari on Sunday with my kids as a part of a Girl Scout day.  They had free passes but I had to buy mine.  It cost me $106!  For reference, a ticket to the Magic Kingdom costs $109 before tax.  Their website said it was $65, but they do dynamic pricing.  To top it off, I went to get a towel, and they don't give towels out to day pass guests!  I was so angry, and I ended up only getting one water slide in because the kids spent most of the time in the wave pool and went to Tom Foolery's after lunch.  I'm still bitter.

See here is your problem you were expecting a government agency to do something.  If instead you expect them to do nothing then you will be less disappointed.

Oh someone will look into your case but they didn’t say when.  You will probably get an email or letter in the mail stating they are now looking into it 5-years from now just for them to close it because you didn’t respond.

I'm not sure if it is helpful, but I got 2 responses from them about my license within a few days towards the beginning of the year. They were short but what I needed. I was sending them to ELO.Help@dpi.wi.gov If your question wasn't related to a license I'm not sure that is the appropriate email. They also initiated the first communication upon screening my application so that might have made a difference.

Well at least all those kids who have a terrible work ethic are now making $15+ an hour to do a terrible job, which helped make that meal you ordered cost about twice as much as it would have a few years ago....great times we're living in, to be sure.

I've notice this recently with these places who got away with that level of filth when indoor dining wasn't open due to COVID restrictions and they just had prevent all the garbage from blowing out the drive thru window - now that the restaurants are largely opened back up it's like the staff have no concept on how to keep places clean.

Hate to break it to you, but staffing the Dells meant those pay thresholds were crossed along time ago. 25 years ago working for the same owner of a fast food franchise in the Dells and other neighboring towns meant a $1 an hour difference on that base minimum wage salary, and the average Dells employee was way less productive than our store. Higher end servers even in those days were comfortably breaking $10/ hour. And that's with all the recruiting for overseas help in the summer.

Heck, our seasonal office workers are now making $4.5k per year more than our full-time office positions.

I assume you're talking base pay and not with benefits included?

I will preface this rant with the following statement:  my son played in the state baseball tournament this week.  His school is within the broadcast area of the Milwaukee market and is not Pewaukee.  He is a senior.

I thought I would record the 10:00PM news on YouTube TV for all four stations.  I got to Fox 6 too late, I guess, because I am told that they were the only ones that had any coverage of the baseball tournament apart from a story about Pewaukee.  Mind you, the Pewaukee story was a good one and should have gotten coverage.

The other news stations had nothing.  No scores or stories about Menomonee Falls, Kenosha St. Joseph's, Westosha Central, or Greendale.  Both Menomonee Falls and Greendale won their first round games on Tuesday and the latter won in a dramatic comeback.  There were reporters from Eau Claire, Madison area, and Green Bay, but nothing from Milwaukee.  The was one crew, it appeared, to cover Pewaukee's semi-final game which makes sense.

So, is it me, or does spring coverage of high school sports generally stink unless your school is named Whitefish Bay or Franklin?  How did things go with the Track and Field state tournament.  I certainly saw a lot of coverage on the State Golf Tournament at Blackwolf run.  But no baseball?  Let's go...  Are the Milwaukee stations cutting their budget that much?  Lance Allen hasn't been seen in studio at 10:00 for quite a while.

I also noticed last night that some stations had little or no coverage about the State Soccer tournament that is happening in their own back yard.  Sad.

Speaking as an employee of a government agency, this bugs me.  Try not to tar every public employee and agency with the same brush.  :)

I manage the front desk of a government agency library which by default often becomes the point of first contact for agency-wide questions.  Many of the non-library questions require us to transfer calls.  Since the pandemic, I've purposely encouraged callers to communicate via email because I am not privy to most colleagues' on-site and work-from-home schedules, and most of my colleagues will get an email notification before they check voice mail.  (The area I manage is one of few throughout the agency to lack voice mail, so we get the callers who kept pressing 1 in order to talk to a live person.)

For my department's transactions that can't be handled while someone waits, I make a point of following up the same business day or within a business day, even if only to say that I'll need more time or more information.  I usually do this via email so there's a written record of our correspondence.

Having said that...my transactions with the public tend not to be as heavily bureaucratic as others in the government spectrum.  DPI is much bigger than my agency, though if their staffing level is like ours, they lost people during the pandemic and the replacement process is arduous and definitely bureaucratic.

I attended the Thursday afternoon and Saturday afternoon soccer sessions (first time).  Thursday, I observed coverage by one station...from Madison.  Nothing on Saturday.  I left at HT of the D1 final and it appears a pretty dramatic second half.  WTMJ showing dad jokes instead.  Flipped to WISN to see the D3 highlights (BSW feed), so didn't know if they had D1 highlights.  Guess I'll have to wait to DVR it later this week.

The track meet being in LaCrosse, wouldn't expect anything.  Otherwise, I would have seen the national HS record being broken instead of reading about it online.

WTMJ has had the lead newscaster also do the sports for a while on weekends, not sure during the week.  I'd say ongoing budget efficiencies going on for years.

Just saw the Pewaukee box score.  Just glancing at it for ten seconds and OUCH!

WISC in Madison has been doing the same since shortly into the pandemic.

there was probably a time back in, say, 2010 when you probably got decent response time from Dept of Education.

An actual person to talk to would be wonderful….even if it’s a week later.

A bunch of errors and timely base hits.  I know a bunch of the kids that play for Pewaukee who didn't necessarily play on the football team nor the basketball team.  I felt bad for them.

I don't know if it would make sense to "write a letter" to the Milwaukee stations (I'm turning into my parents).  At least, put some of the highlights on line.  Eau Claire does a nice job with a daily online sports segment where they show different sports.  Very, very disappointing.

If they don't, there's a pretty good chance I won't renew.  I realize they have a lot of great content across the board, but I'm about 95% there for Brewers coverage.  And Will was pretty great.

I think I can live the rest of my days without listening to any more music from the 1970s and 1980s piped into public spaces.

I lived in that era, and have heard these songs the whole time.  Enough.  It's really ok to let younger people own the culture.

In 1982, we weren't besieged with music from 1942 everywhere we went, but today's teens and young adults are force fed music of their parents and grandparents age.

Maybe I'll like today's artists, and maybe I won't, but at least it will be different than the same tedious retro tunes of yesteryear.

I'd say the bigger problem is they just play the same 10-20 songs from that era over and over. There's lot of good songs and bands but they won't venture out of the Rolling Stones, Journey, Elton John safezone.

Don't tell me that you don't remember being force-fed "oldies" from the 50's/60's in every public space you went to in the 80's and 90's.  I spent many an hour in the produce department of a grocery store working 15 feet from a speaker that pumped "Oldies 94.9 WOLX" all day long.  So much so that my boss and I made up our own lyrics to some of those songs in order to keep our sanity.

That being said, if you listened to some of the current music that's been coming out... you'd long for the 80's too.  When Cardi B is topping the charts with "WAP", something has gone horribly wrong.
