30-year old LHP Andy Otero from Panama was a terrific find by the Brewers, signing as a minor league free agent in May 2021, serving as a highly dependable starter for AA Biloxi that year and then contributing meaningful long relief innings for AAA Nashville throughout much of 2022.

Originally signed as an international free agent way back in 2009 by the Braves, he was in their system up to 2015, when he was solid in High-A ball (2.58 ERA in 59 1/3 IP) but then disappeared from the baseball scene until some winter league appearances from late 2018 to early 2021.

On a terrible (45-69 - sorry friends!) Biloxi team last year, Otero was a major bright spot, producing a 5-0 record and 2.10 ERA in 51 1/3 IP and an 11.4 K/9, though he struggled mightily when given a chance in AAA (9.15 ERA in 20 2/3 IP).

This year, he did everything asked of him, throwing 68 1/3 IP in 23 appearances (6 starts), with 34 IP in AA (mainly starts) and 34 1/3 IP in AAA (all in relief). The ERA was solid (3.42) and WHIP was respectable (1.38), but his strikeout numbers are down (6.6 K/9).

Presumably not being confident enough to use Otero as a starter or lock-down reliever in AAA ball, the Brewers have made the decision to move on. Thank you Andy Otero for your terrific work. We hope that you find tremendous success in your upcoming conquests, inside and outside of baseball.

RHP Mason Vinyard has been signed as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky University.  6’2” 210 lb. relief pitcher that showcased exceptional strikeout stuff this year.

Vinyard signed with the Yankees instead and 2022 is teaching us to wait for confirmation from @BrewersPD.

Vinyard had agreed to sign with the Crew and had confirmed (twice), there was question marks that came up, however, on the Brewers end following his physical unfortunately.

Beautifully said. He had struggled of late at Triple-A. But, this was a young man who gave his all for the Brewers. He will be missed.

Ugh. Just a lost season after an intriguing beginning for Martinez. Bummer. Heal up, young man!

What is the deal with Jackson Chourio?

Hasn't played with the t-rats since August 17th.

Injured?

If so, how severe?

I can't find anything anywhere about it.

Arm soreness. Believe it was noted in the Minor League Roster Speculation thread and one of the daily link reports.

Odd? This is an ongoing thread for reported and official Transactions. There's nothing official on either Chourio or Quero. FYI.

No offense intended, just thought there would be a blip about why he hasn't played for a week.

Quero is at DH tonight I believe I saw.

Yup, he's back. I certainly didn't take offense. I'm merely telling you this thread is strictly for officially reported transactions. The Speculative thread and our Reports covered the, well, speculative or hearsay stuff(s). LOL. That's all.

That has to be a fun flight from Arizona for the two young Dominicans. Gonzalez the strike-thrower of the two, I added the Player Page links, check out Gonzalez' peripherals, WHIP, etc.

Regarding our well-wishes for released players,

Tough when you see the smiling face of a now-released RHP Michael Perdomo (Instagram)

Perdomo turns 21 in November. A member of the 2019 July 2nd international class out of Venezuela, Perdomo had to wait through the lost 2020 season to make his debut last summer in the Dominican. He posted excellent numbers in 2021, as seen via his MiLB Player Page here.

It was surprising to see Perdomo open 2022 back in the DSL, but he was stateside within two weeks. It was a less successful 21.1 innings in Maryvale, but this release still rates, at least numerically, as a mild surprise. Perdomo's just a year removed from starting his pro career with a 31-to-3 K-to-BB in 21.1 IP (1.69 ERA). We never know what other factors are at play.

The 2019 signing class was the last "black hole" of signing bonus info, hopefully we'll never see that again. So, we don't know where Perdomo landed in terms of bonus, but he was never given an opportunity to start or stretch out, guessing he was on the lower end that year.

Best going forward for Michael, especially should he choose to pursue new baseball opportunities.
