Packers 2022 Discussion Thread

If the Packers were to trade Love, what do you think he would get for a draft pick?

My guess is a 2nd round pick.

Not even close at best 3rd round pick and realistically it would be a late 4th or 5th round pick. Love hasn’t really shown anything he is worth more than a 3rd round pick.

I'd be happy with a 3rd. I don't think anyone is giving a 2nd for Love.

Considering the haul the Broncos are giving up for Russell Wilson, and the lack of perceived talent in this year's draft class, a 2nd wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Exactly. And, honestly, it would be an incredible Save on an insurance play when their WR's disappeared in the Love draft. IF they were able to recoup a 2nd in this year's draft that's just a huge Win.

Just hit up a few NFL scouts about potential asking price for Jordan Love. Most think Packers could get a 2nd round pick for him. Feeling is talent & upside worth that roll of dice.

Will be interesting to see who is right ... insider quoting NFL scouts, or fan such as yourself with no inside knowledge. Guess we'll maybe see if they don't just decide to hang onto him for another year.

We shall see, my friend. We shall see. We just don't know. Heck, the Packers may not even be looking to trade him. We just don't know.

Hey everyone, just wanted to clear some things up; YES I will be playing with the @packers next year, however, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract I “signed”. I’m very excited to be back #year18

Well I sure hope they win a SB soon. Because the Packers of '25, '26 and '27, etc are gonna be some realllllly bad teams.

Not if they draft well

People said the same thing about the Rams 3-4 years ago.

They did? I don't recall this at all. I always thought the Rams under McVay had a bright future and some young talent, just needed a QB which they now have. But I could be remembering wrong.

Watch the Packers trade Love and take a QB in the first this year, lol.

That was a narrative for sure when they signed Gurley to that huge deal. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2876758-rams-bears-jaguars-and-other-nfl-teams-that-find-themselves-in-salary-cap-hell

I read something a while back from a scout that said Love was better than any QB coming out in the draft this year and it wasn't particularly close.

Well, that's definitely not a league consensus because Green Bay isn't getting a 1 for Love and other QBs will go in the 1st this year. Love still hasn't shown much in his 2 years of development. I think if the Packers thought he was better than any QB in the draft this year, they'd have taken a massive trade haul for Rodgers and moved on. The Packers aren't dumb, they know Father Time is undefeated and Rodgers succumbing to him is a matter of when, not if. I don't think they have much confidence in Love, and they'd know him better than anyone.

If I'm wrong and they can get a 2 for him, awesome. Take it. I'd still take a 3rd. Anything less and I agree you might as well hold him.

Since this is a Packer thread on Brewerfan, it seems an appropriate place to say this. Being a fan of Wisconsin teams, it's a tough thing as a fan to have these great players who are tough to pull for. We had MVP Braun, and he screwed up big. Rodgers has taken some well-deserved PR hits in the past year, to the point where a back-to-back MVP has some fans shrugging their shoulders and saying, "Leave, go, whatever."

Giannis, when you read this, BE COOL! We need stars that are easy to root for.

"Go ahead. Try to disagree with me. I dare you." Jeffrey Leonard.

Whichever rookie QB(s) go in the 1st round this year will be in the 1st year of their contracts, Love will be in the 3rd year of his contract.

A player's talent isn't the only thing that determines their value.

Adams has officially been franchised. Egg on the face of a few that were adamant that it wouldn't happen due to cap constraints.

It was my mindset and I stated that it would be difficult to tag Adams and would require, among other things, a long-term extension from Rodgers to free up salary.

It was also my position that if they did tag Adams, it would be with the intent of extending him to a long-term contract, not trading him.

IMO that is all pretty much exactly consistent with what has occurred.

That cuts both ways, Love has 2 years of NFL experience and would therefore likely be considered more "ready" than most rookie starters.

I still find A Rod incredibly easy to root for. He's back-to-back MVP's. Most of the hoopla surrounding him has been entirely driven by the Media and then overreaction. He literally just tweeted out pointing out the reports today are inaccurate. He is constantly gaslighted. And, through it all, he's been a super chill guy. I don't understand all the negativity tossed his way. I really don't. He's a guy who has repeatedly out-performed every contract. His only downfall has been losing some big games with questionable decisions in Key moments. Other than that, the guy has been a model Packer and a guy who has done absolutely nothing other than shower praise on the State of Wisconsin.

Also, Giannis is just a one in a Billion athlete and person. That's literally finding the needle in the proverbial haystack.

EDIT to Add: I should also be clear, I have been 100% in the camp of 'Whatever happens with the A Rod situation, I'll support it.' I really just didn't care which way it went as I saw rationale and reasons behind whatever was the chosen path. Happy to see it moving to the next phase.

Now I turn my off-season attention to: MVS, Lazard, Campbell, Rasul, and P. Smith. How do those dominoes fall? We are also rumored to be interested in Von Miller and Nwosu? Going to be a wild wild ride this off-season.

A Rodg and Braun are both "love em if they're yours, hate them if they're not" type guys. Giannis is generally quite likeable. Yelich is very likeable too, although I'd like him much more if he didn't suck now.
