2022 Brewers Optimism Thread!

Reason for Optimism: the ASG break comes at a great time for the Brewers.

In the last 5-6 years or so, Brewers have always done poorly just before the break. Being swept in that 5-game series (Well, 4 game series + makeup game) by the Pirates in 2018 being the most blatant example. However, they also tend to close the season out strongly; Craigtember is coming! It's a team built for winning as many games as possible out of the 162, not necessarily to maximize the chances of winning any individual game. Obviously there is a lot of overlap between those two concepts, but there is a difference.

2nd half will be a good one for the Brewers.

The antagonist in me says the Brewers did this to tip the Pirates into buy mode which further set back them long term.

Great start to the second half. 

Also very happy to see Freddy Peralta, Jake Cousins, Luis Perdomo and Justin Topa all currently doing rehab assignments. Hard to know what we're getting in Topa given how little he has pitched in the last few years, but the other three should make the pitching staff a whole lot better and deeper.

Well Sal Frelick his hit better at A+, AA, and now AAA then Tyrone Taylor ever did and Tyrone even got to hit for a year in Colorado Springs. I say this as a big fan of what Taylor has done for us, but a few more weeks of Frelick abusing AAA and he would have a strong argument for jumping in to at least platoon in CF and see if he can help more than Davis (no complaints about what he has been able to contribute either) but there could still be internal offense boosts coming. For that matter Turang could get a shot to play the Jace Peterson role as well...

Phillies and Cardinals both lose today. First part of this week is a huge success as we've trimmed our self-imposed deficit to the Cardinals from 2 to 0.5. Let's keep it going this weekend!

I'm visiting a friend in St. Louis this weekend, I wasn't going to make her go to all three games but I'll be there on Sunday as we go two and half games over the Cards!!

The Brewers have won more games than Yankees have in August so far.  Also the Red Sox won their first series against an AL East team this year against the Yankees.
