They aren’t going to change that much on a day to day basis. But I think these are down from about 95% making the playoffs and 9% winning the WS at the beginning of June.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

They’re not.

Good deal.    But that seems crazy.    The cardinals have a better run differential and I would assume a lot easier schedule for here on out (but I could be wrong)    Maybe the two game lead skews it some.   But if the division is tied after the cardinals come out of the dodgers series there is no way we have a three times better chance of winning the division.     No way

There you go, truly got to Winder there. Weird game with all the up and downs, probably put him out of sorts a bit.

Now, time to keep it going against what will presumably be the Twins bullpen. Is it really that bad apart from Duran?

Duffey has been acceptable lately. Thielbar is an acceptable lefty specialist.

The rest is that bad, yes.

Just taking a cursory glance at the Twins on B-R, their bullpen has been pretty rough. Griffin Jax looks like he's having an ok year? But if you have 2 guys that you can lean on, that's even tougher than the Brewers having Hader/Williams/Box and "a bunch of guys" bullpen.

Oh yeah, Jax is okay but has struggled lately. I think he’ll be fine in the long run but hasn’t been sharp for a couple of weeks.

Looking at his stats from last year, he looks more suited as a reliever than a starter. Of course, he was a rookie last year, so who can say. His k/9 went way up and somehow he gave up 23 (23!!!) homeruns in 82 innings last year.  That's nuts.

This is the way I’d sum up the Twins bullpen:

Shut down reliever, one of the best in baseball: Duran

Watch while cringing: Duffey, Jax, Thielbar

Turn off the game: everyone else

The past month has been the worst bullpen I’ve ever seen an MLB team field. The Twins should have a 7-8 game lead in the division right now had they held even just 75% of their late game leads.

That's 2019 Burnes type of stuff.

He’s way more suited for relief. His slider is nasty and his FB velo is up a couple mph in the pen. He can also mostly drop his other pretty bad offerings.

On TV we couldn't see where that Adames HR came down.  Couldn't even see any fans going for it.  So I'm going to go ahead and assume it's still up in the air somewhere above Minnesota.

This delay is going to take a little longer but it might be the last one.

With Taylor experiencing a setback and Yelich now going out with back issues, Stearns might not be able to wait until the deadline to get an outfielder.

He should have picked up an OF six weeks ago … I’m terribly disappointed in our management for waiting & hoping that we will survive rather than proactively addressing all of shortcomings

The Adames homerun still hasn't come down.  Seriously though, I've watched the replay 3-4 times and I don't see anyone in the stands reaching/reacting at all, so it's hard to tell where it's coming down.

Statcast has that sucker with a 38 degree launch angle, which is pretty nuts for an almost 400 foot shot.

I certainly didn’t see where it landed.

They showed someone in the stands with the ball but I couldn’t tell what deck that was.

The problem is several fold:

- expanded playoffs means fewer teams are out of it early

- no one is making trades of note anywhere

- can’t trade anybody if other GMs just tell you to call back in late July

Hader sitting out the all star game leaves Brewers with one all star?? A first place team with only one guy is strange. Williams not getting in to sub for Hader is wild.

Hopefully other guys will be dropping out still. Kinda mad they gave Hader's spot to a starting pitcher. Because Williams was probably next up for relievers.
