Big one to pull out with a minimum of offense.

Take the sweep off the table.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

This says otherwise. Since 2019....

And this was you opinion before the trade?  You are definitely in the minority of baseball fans. We really fleeced that Pads  on that trade, huh. Never really addressed the all-star games and relief pitcher of the year awards.

I had the Cards broadcast tonight and the announcers are as expected, the PC Police of baseball.  Such Fing pricks.  Great win.  Tough, hard fought game all around. Great work from the pen.  Great performance by Burnes.  Hitting is as expected, a ghost town most nights but showed up when needed.  Let's get tomorrow.

Big win tonight.

Luckily, the umps didn't call it in the 7th with the 1 run slaughter rule, giving the offense time to get us back into it.

Bush looks alright after that first-game hiccup.

I like Bush & Rogers more than Hader

If Rosenthal adds anything down the stretch this could be a good bullpen

The Brewers have frustrated me all year … I have been clear with my disappointment … that said - nice comeback win tonight

And yet his ERA on the season is better than Hader's and his numbers over the last few years are quite comparable...

It didn’t take you long to jump off the Hader bandwagon.

Any good examples?

Edit: For clarity I assumed you meant some silly baseball etiquette garbage, not the actual P of the PC variety..

I'm just gonna say this about the Rogers/Hader thing.  Rogers is a nice reliever.  He's not having a great year this year, but he very well might pitch alright down the stretch.  he might out-pitch Hader down the stretch.

However, Hader has shown multiple times in his career he's one of the few relievers in MLB that can go multiple months at a time and not allow a run, let alone barely allow a hit. Yes, he's prone to rough stretches once in a while, like he's in now, and that's why his numbers look like they do, but Rogers doesn't have the raw stuff and talent that Hader does.  They have similar-ish stat lines..... but I'm not sure that's entirely telling of what you have.

IN the end.... it is what it is.  We have Rogers now.... Hader is the Padres problem (at the moment) and if he figures things out, and goes on a 2 month stretch where he doesn't allow a run, they'll be happy they pulled the trigger.

Winning tomorrow would be big. Up half game with four Dodger games (really 7 in the next two weeks) seems much different than down game and a half.

I knew that Rogers was really good and had been quite unlucky this year. It's way too early to make any pronouncements on the Hader trade anyways. Rogers was an all-star last year, but that's besides the point, because the stats I just showed you say that they've been pretty much the same quality since 2019. I would definitely acknowledge that I'd take Hader hands down until recently, but my post was strictly about the 2022 versions of Hader and Rogers.

Next two week’s task list …

Win tomorrow

Take 4 of 7 against the LAD

Beat the dadburn Cubbies & Pirates

Watch them play decent tomorrow and against the dodgers only to completely crap the bed against the cubbies and pirates.

You can see tonite what they were thinking regarding the "new" bullpen. Williams is Williams. Rogers isn't Hader if they're both on top of their games, but still pretty darn good. Bush, after what I've seen his last two times out, lengthens things considerably. Boxberger takes too much heat on here, but if Bush locates the breaking stuff like he has recently to go with upper 90s, he's better, and certainly a good late-inning option. And you still have Box & eventually Gott. CC has the pen depth he loves.

This'll be the way we win games, boys & girls. Just hope to see consistency.

I remember Brock telling us to quit it with these sorts of personal posts...Regardless, Hader had been the best relief pitcher in baseball until July, which is why I was on the "wagon". Lately, not so much...Rogers' ERA is now better than Hader's, which, combined with their relatively comparable stats over the last few years, elicited my post.  I would definitely have taken Hader until recently, though.

Due to the two prospects, fully critiquing this deal can't happen yet for quite awhile.
