For some reason, I thought Cole was really struggling this year but when you look at his numbers that’s obviously not the case. Maybe he struggled early in the year?

This would be the most unlikely sweep of the year if they pull this off

i felt we were in trouble when the cards swept the Yankees awhile ago.  Maybe we can turn the tables on the Padres if we win today

I feel a blueprint something like hoping Alexander keeps you in it, then going to Suter & hoping that combo covers 5-6 innings. If they do that & come away tied or leading at that point that's all you can hope for.

Don't like Mitchell & Peterson sitting.

Garrett Mitchell this month has an OPS of .507, while Tyrone Taylor has an OPS of 1.026....

Against rightys?

I would guess Mitchell sitting has more to do with the fact that he is a rookie who has flat been overmatched against some of the better pitchers he's faced, than a straight righty v lefty match up thing.  Cole is one of the best.

Taylor has actually been quite a bit better against RHP than LHP this season.

Crew has several guys with reverse splits.

Is that unusual?

By definition, yes...

I don't mind giving up 1st pitch dingers to Oswaldo Cabrera with a 3 run lead. Bothers me less than a 9 pitch walk to a guy like that with a 3 run lead. Although I'd rather it was hit off a fastball rather than a hanging changeup.
