Catching up on this one --

07/15/23    Milwaukee Brewers signed free agent LHP Jesus Broca to a minor league contract.

19-year-old native of Mexico currently on the Reserve List, rough numbers in the Mexico Winter League and then the Mexican League this summer, pitching against players a decade older.

19-year-old 3rd year pro (1st year stateside) OF Duncan Garcia placed on the 60-day injured list in Maryvale. The Dominican native's ,741 OPS appears fine, but he has also struck out 28 times in 62 AB's (74 plate appearances).

Garcia's placement opens a stateside slot for 16th round Ohio State RHP Josh Timmerman, activated at Maryvale, a nice gift for his 21st birthday.

Tough break for RHP Logan Adams, released by the Brewers Friday.

Adams, signed as an undrafted player in August 2022, would appear in one Maryvale game (box score), starting and tossing a scoreless inning (one single, one K).

Due to injury spanning into 2023, that one inning, for now, is the extent of Adams' pro career,

Here's Adams' NC State Player Bio covering his career there through that 2022 campaign.

Hoping that should he choose and he is able, that Adams gets to pursue other baseball opportunities. For now, the 0.00 ERA is of small consolation for all the efforts.

It would appear one of the promotions we've all been waiting for has happened. I expect INF Tyler Black will see the majority of his work at 1B. And, that may explain the sudden shift recently in Biloxi - the Sounds have zero true 1B on their roster. Black will fit right in with Hiura and Toro trying their best to fill that void.

Thanks to @wibadgers23for the following:

- Nashville Sounds OF Tyler Naquin was traded to the Chicago White Sox organization for 'Cash'. More HERE.

Key tidbit:

Quote

Naquin, 32, was eligible to be traded by virtue of the fact that he hasn’t been on a 40-man roster or major league injured list at any point this season.

Quero incoming?

Wouldn't be a bad idea to me coming off injury. Probably depends on how the org feels about taking time from Henry or Naveretto.

- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers sent RHP Joseph Hernandez  to the ACL Brewers for a Rehab assignment.

(Hernandez last pitched back on May 25th - 3 1/3 innings @ Cedar Rapids. You all might remember his name from the RHP Justin Topa trade.)

He deeply bruised his hand/wrist in a violent swing and miss. He then grounded out to 2B later in the AB. Haven't seen him since.

Yeah initial reports indicated it would be a fairly short-term injury but we’re going on a few weeks now. Hopefully just being extra cautious.

Best of luck to Mr. Lutz. He didn't have the season he would have wanted for himself but there is still plenty of talent and pop in that bat. I hope he finds a good situation and can blossom as a DH bat with pop and a fill-in LF'er.

I hope Lutz was wise with his 2.5Mish signing bonus, and there is no sarcasm in that statement. There's plenty of reminders out there that no matter how highly touted, it's really hard to get to the show and many don't make it.
