Wisconsin fan rule #2 when there are free giveaways at a sporting event always arrive 2 hours early and get in line.  If no line has formed start forming the line.

Is there a line for the line?

I came here to this thread, expecting to read about fights or something unusual happening because of the thread title.  Am I wrong, or was there none of this?  And, if there was no fights or unusual behavior by fans, then, clearly, I am not the target audience for this thread because I don't get it.  🤨

Last weekend Seattle gave away 20,000 Julio Rodriguez bobbleheads to a crowd of 45,000. Everyone who wasn’t in line by 3:30 didn’t get one. The game started at 6:40.

I saw some tweets bemoaning how long it took to get into the park Saturday night, and every Brewers employee we know and encountered at today's game commented on what a zoo it had been.  (It made me feel better about the Brewers switching most of the big fan giveaways from Sundays to Saturdays this year.)

I'm guessing the Brewers grew tired of having to store thousands of unclaimed bobbles and other all-fan giveaway items when a full house did not turn out - so they started limiting most giveaways to the first 10K or 30K ticketed fans.   Then they sold enough SRO tickets for this game to total 43K.

Anything Giannis should probably be made available to all fans, though.  Same with like Ueck or Yount or Molitor.   Another thing that might help would be to have one entrance designated as No Giveaway.  Imagine if you're just going to the game because you like baseball and you'd like to get in the park without having to wait 50 minutes in line.

At the last home game of 2019, amid a 10K winter hat giveaway, we got in the right field gate line at noon for a 1:10 game, and barely got inside before first pitch.  That should not happen.  (It was also raining that day, which really added value to the PA announcements of fan appreciation weekend.)

For fans who were at the Giannis jersey game, did you notice a lot of customers (I'm reluctant to say "fans" in this instance) getting their jersey and immediately leaving?  On TV the seating bowl looked pretty full.

That would bug me on Sundays as we were walking toward the gates and encountered people walking away with their item (sometimes multiple items) in tow.  I'd always say something to the SO like "Wow, we must have missed the game."

I wasn't at the game, but I saw quite a few people on twitter say they saw people get the jersey and immediately leave. I also saw some of the jerseys have already made it to eBay and are being listed at ridiculous prices.

On my way into the park I saw 3 fans that were leaving with their jersey.  So clearly some.  I have seen a decent number of of those jerseys for sale on the internet at ridiculous prices $50-$100.  Not sure how I feel about any of that.

I mean I used to know a guy who made a significant amount of money on bobbleheads every year through going to all the bobblehead games, buying as many as he could from fans who would sell them, and then reselling online.  Really it can be done with any of the fan giveaways.

I never understand how little value people put on their free time, waiting in line hours for something that’s a corporate sponsor freebie?

If it’s something a mega fan simply needs to have, wait two weeks, they’ll all be $50 or less on eBay and two hours of my free time is worth more to me than $40-$50 bucks

I went to the game on Saturday and Am Fam is not setup for these full house events.  I’ve typically gone on quiet days in the past (about 1 a year) so not something I have prior experience.  But outside of the hour long wait to get into the stadium (expected) most every food vendor that wasn’t just popcorn or ice cream had 20-45 minute lines.  Combined with the faster play and food took over an inning to get. Compared to setups at Camp Randal or Lambeau, there’s just far too few stations causing the ones with meal food to be packed.  It also didn’t help my kid didn’t want the short line options of grilled cheese or chicken.  Giveaways would be nice (showed up too late for that, but that’s on me) but it’s not worth dealing with the crowd to do anything but sit in your seat.  Lessons learned I guess.

Anyone selling at $50 might be selling themselves short. I get a 20 pack and I had 3 people ask me if they could get them an extra Giannis jersey(i didn't attend so I won't get one at all). I've never once had someone ask about a bobble, but Giannis jersey was always going to be a big hit.

Looks like the Brewers are at least trying to address the gate gridlock situation.  Or trying to increase pregame concession sales.  Or a little from each column.

Having experienced big giveaway games on Sundays from 2008-2022, I suspect that no giveaway on this year's schedule will result in as much mania as the Giannis jersey did.  Guess we'll start to find out this Saturday!
