3rd Tommy John surgery seems like a very big deal to me.

And when has Adames been a sub .700 OPS shortstop? I'll clue you in. He hasn't. We're in the middle of May. Talk to me at the end of the season. Willy's been worth 1.0 WAR primarily off his defense alone.

Check the stat line, he’s sub .700 so far this year, and has had a .300 OBP across his last 700+ PAs, think that’s magically going to change? He’s a shortstop who hits a few homers and doesn’t do much else with the bat.

And who cares if he’s a great defensive  shortstop they’re a dime a dozen; the difference between him and Turang defensively is likely negligible yet they bat Adames clean up every night believing he’s still the guy that came over in ‘21 on a hot streak.

The team needs some offensive stars, not castaways from other teams who had a career year 2-3 seasons ago.  Expand the payroll and sign some legit hitting stars -OR- get MLB to have an NFL-style salary cap so other teams don't have a competitive advantage over us in signing/retaining stars -OR- continue to see this team's offense sputter.

Dillard says he's pumping strikes , my a## getting some help from the ump !

It's not like they are handling the ones that are strikes well.

Was curious about when Helsley was drafted.  The Cards killed us in that 2015 draft.

3rd round:
Brewers (#15): Nash Walters ($800k)
Cardinals (#25): Harrison Bader ($400k)

4th round:
Brewers (#16): Demi Orimoloye ($450k)
Cardinals (#26): Paul DeJong ($200k)

5th round:
Brewers (#16): Blake Allemand ($40k)
Cardinals (#26): Ryan Helsley ($225k)

Brewers: $1.29M, 0.0 WAR
Cardinals: $825k, ~30 WAR

Definitely not , a lot swing and misses and weak contact . doesn't help with these calls though !

What incentive is there for doing so?  The fans don't factor into the equation unless it affects the bottom line.  Fans aren't going to stop showing up for the good teams that have the payroll to be good.  They need low payroll teams to beat up on.

Another leadoff runner.  Looking for to the creativity involved in squandering this opportunity.

Is this a spoof?

First of all, he's literally never been a .sub-700 OPS bat in his career. He's only 14 points underwater now despite being mired in a huge slump. Literally, zero reason to think it won't find its way well above that mark by the end of the season. They don't print stats from Mid-May on the baseball card.

Second of all, no way are there a dozen SS in baseball who are as good as Willy on defense. That's just a ridiculous comment.

Finally, since the trade: Rasmussen 5.8 bWAR, Adames 8.9 bWAR

And now Rasmussen is likely to undergo TJ surgery for the 3rd time. Only TWO pitchers in MLB history have ever returned to the majors after 3 TJ surgeries, and none of them have been as effective.

But, yes, we'd be better off with Rasmussen instead of Adames...

So, in 6 games against the Cardinals, the Brewers scored a grand total of 14 runs. Against the supposedly horrible Cardinals SP, the Brewers scored 8 runs in 34 innings, giving them  an ERA of 2.11.

The Cardinals dealt the Brewers  2 shutouts and one de facto shutout in the 18-1 game where the Brewers only run came long after the game was decided

Nobody has said Rasmussen is having TJ surgery yet, and Rasmussen has 3 years of control remaining. Adames may be an ex-Brewer as soon as July and for sure by next July.

Owen Miller seemed fake good in April but actually looks for real good in May. Coming into today he had a .346 xwOBA in May and today he had a BB and 3 BBE over 100 EV with xBA of .450, .730, .850.

He's earned at least for the moment an every day role on this team.

Flexor strain, which he is currently on the 60 day IL for, is almost always a precursor to TJ. Again, only 2 pitchers in history have even returned to MLB from a 3rd TJ surgery, and they were both relievers.

Would be nice. It's not like he's had a huge# of at bats in the majors.

...........and went 3-3.

Look, I'm not defending the lack of offense. Just saying what we saw in the middle game of this series is the type of wins we're often going to have to turn in to be successful.

I see some Adames debate on here. I've felt for a while now that he's someone you can win a championship with as your starting SS-----as long as you have an unusually strong batting order where he hits 7th or 8th. He's fun to watch when he's picking up the ball, but the bad stretches are just brutal. It's one thing to accept how hard it is to hit at this level, but way too often he gives himself no chance. That AB to close out the top of the 7th was an embarrassment.

Are you like secretly a Cardinals fan? You seem to go out of your way to praise them quite a bit here especially when they are 3-3 against us on the season.

Cardinals SP aren't supposedly horrible. They are horrible. Their SP have a 5.15 ERA this season which is the definition of horrible.
