High-A Wisconsin is also on the road, battling Cardinals’ affiliate Peoria. RHP Tyler Woessner (3.76 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 7.5 K/9 in 76.2 IP) starts the opening game. SS Robert Moore resumes his 27-game on-base streak.

Maybe 17-year old CF Yophery Rodriguez will earn that rare promotion to ACL ball after all.

His 6th inning grand slam turned a 5-3 deficit into a 7-5 victory for DSL Brewers-1 over DSL Brewers-2. Going 2-for-3 with a walk lifted his season OPS to .995.

The AA Shuckers host Angels’ affiliate Rocket City for a 3-game set. Stud prospects CF Jackson Chourio and C Jeferson Quero are back from Futures Game action. And no more pre-tacked baseballs!! Let’s see what RHP Christian Mejias (7.04 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 11.0 K/9 in 70.1 IP) can really do.

Stop the presses. The DSL Crew Uno have now won 6 straight. They improved to 18-11 today. One game back the DSL Dogers Mega. 6.5 back the juggernaut Dodgers Bautista. Quite the ongoing run these talented young men are on!

AAA Nashville plays at Reds’ affiliate Louisville, apparently still missing Gasser and Jackson due to suspensions in the last series. RHP Jason Alexander (1.80 ERA with 6 Ks in 15 AAA IP) gets the opening game start. RF Jahmai Jones makes his debut with the Sounds.

Heck of a way for the T-Rats to break up a no-hitter! 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. AKA 'Mr. Red Hots' hit a solo jack. Game is tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 9th . RHP Sam Gardner is on trying to keep this a tie game. Will we see Xtras?

O'Rae is nearing 100 PA in the ACL this year and he currently has an OBP over .500. Not any pop there right now, but he's getting on base and stealing a ton of bases.

Seeing this NFL scoreline, would you believe that RHP Gerson Calzadilla closed out the win with 5 innings of 3-hit, no earned run ball?

Opposite field homer for Black…….can we get the guy to Nashville already?

Let's remember last year. After the smoke cleared from the trade deadline (August 2nd) & their deals were (or weren't) finalized, that's when there were some decisions made at the AA & AAA level. Wiemer & Frelick were promoted to Nashville at that point. They may be waiting to see what happens acquisition-wise in the next couple weeks.

Not disagreeing with you, I wouldn't mind seeing Black promoted. Just speculating as to why he hasn't been.

He's one of the guys I wanted to see added on that top 20 list. I am just so excited about the young talent. It's just coming in waves. Franklin Rodriguez, Lara, Yophery and that's after the top 6-7 CF prospects we've got!

Yeah, we usually don’t early-promote players that are trade bait, for fear that they’ll struggle at the next level and hinder their value. Ernesto Martinez a few years ago. Antoine Kelly was another example. Don’t be surprised if Black is the best of our “available” prospects this year, due to the defensive questions.

Absolutely waves of positionals.

Just at low A & the complex—

Carolina with Lara-Hall-Guilarte-Adames-Barrios

Arizona with O’Rae-Baez-Norman-Severino

Then add the 4-some of Wilken-Boeve-Bitonti & Pratt

Not even including the DSL, that’s 13 absolutely must follow positionals just at 2 leagues. Wilken could start at Wisconsin and Boeve possibly as well, but I’ve never seen the lower minors this stacked with the volume of talented positionals that we have right now.

I don't know how much longer Alexander can hold onto a 40 man spot. He is okay at times but mainly organization filler and the type of player that can be found quite easily.

I see the K-to-walk ratio from Black and really, really hope he stays here. The guy just puts up terrific ABs from the neck-up. But we all know how run prevention is valued here, and how well it's paid off so yeah, it wouldn't surprise me.

But if he goes somewhere for a reliever & the company line is "Well, gee, (said reliever) has 2+ years of control" my head will explode.

I don't understand why he was kept on the 40, but they just wanted nothing to do with Pannone? He seemed like a capable...what, 9th starter and nice AAA filler. He didn't opt out, we just cut him.

It's kinda funny...there seems to be more negative sentiment toward the Brewers average fans(likely due to the poor batting averages, the Hader trade) but they have NEVER been run as well as this in terms of just being ahead of the curve. Scouting LA, their approach to the draft, the way they find pitching. A lot of that is just...trial and error and they'll miss on guys like Guerra or maybe Yeager(we'll see...did he have TJ surgery). Anyway, they still find Payamps, Peguero.

But the truly exciting thing is the up the middle talent in the lower levels. This is why the trade deadline could be exciting, but also makes me a little nervous. I don't want to see Guillarte thrown into a deal valued as a "lottery ticket," ala Freddy Peralta. That may be his value, but we've seen enough from him to know that his upside is pretty impressive. Lara has the most value among those(who are trade eligible) so I guess if you value him as a top ~125-150 prospect...then I guess(have to give something up to get something).

And then these are the other prospects likely to be traded. The guys who are "MLB ready," or very close to it, but who look like they could be major parts of our next core.

As for the run prevention and how important it is, but isn't part of that because we don't score much? In any event, there's a happy medium. Black has looked REALLY good at 3B fielding the ball. He doesn't have that Anderson arm, but we're not talking about Hiura at 2B here. And Black could also play 1B. I cannot articulate how little I care about a 1B with a .600 SLG. If you have a 1B hitting .275/385/475, AND he can be a 20/40 guy? I'll take that any day. Plus I have to believe his defense would be close to elite at 1B. For a guy who can cover ground at 3B and the only real concern is his arm strength, I know it's not easy to move to 1B, but I think he'd be fine.

If we trade a guy like Black, it has to be for an IMPACT player. Not "just" a reliever unless it's...Emmanuel Clase(which we know isn't happening).
