Chirinos only quality pitch this year has been the splitter, everything else has been damaged

The sinker and slider (though its really a cutter) have whiff rates of 11.4% & 14% respectively, with a lot of aerial balls against the slider too. The sinker has plus movement but has been very poorly located, as with the "cutter", he will serve up some meatballs that hopefully this lineup can do some damage on

Predictions on where Santana slots into the lineup? Cleanup?

He's reportedly not joining the team until tomorrow so he won't be playing tonight.

Really? That's super weird. The trade happened PLENTY early yesterday.

I think Arnold said it was touch and go, partly from packing but I think Pittsburgh got home really late from a west coast road trip, so it was mentioned as unsure which day he'd be linking up with the team

Arnold mentioned they were having trouble with the travel arrangements after Pittsburgh flew in super early Thursday morning. Then when Santana was asked he said he'd be with the team on Saturday

Ah okay, that makes some sense. I know getting in and out of the Pittsburgh airport in a rush can be difficult.

I read somewhere that he won’t play until Saturday … I hope that is incorrect

When he arrives I assume he'll hit either 3rd or 4th. What I'd like to know is will Yelich stay in leadoff moving forward? At least vs RHP I think Frelick would look nice up there getting on base ahead of him, as opposed to Turang/Wiemer/Perkins from the bottom 3 spots.

He's obviously comfortable hitting where he is & I don't expect a move. It's pretty good food for thought though.

Houser can keep the Atlanta hitters off balance enough to deliver a quality start. The question is whether the Brewers will be able to hit the major league baseball.

The answer is pretty clear it’s no

I’m usually one who thinks discussion about the batting order is overdone because it generally doesn’t make a lot of difference as long as your better hitters are near the top so they get as many ABs as possible.

But, I really feel like batting Frelick first instead of fourth makes more sense. His HR notwithstanding, my impression is that Frelick’s strength is going to be more getting on base than hitting for power and XBHs.

I think it’s as simple as thinking that  I’d rather  have Yelich up with Frelick on first than the other way around because of Yelich’s greater XBH potential. So, put Frelick first and Yelich second and hope at least one of them gets on base.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Or, at the very least, consider swapping Frelick and Adames?  IDK, like you said, it probably doesn’t matter that much.  Maybe Yelich’s baserunning is best utilized on base ahead of a Frelick single/double?

I don’t think swapping Frelick and Adames would make much, if any, difference as long as Adames keeps hitting the way he has been.

I can't imagine that's much of an issue given Frelick has plenty of speed.
