What about Michael Kopech from the White Sox's. He has 2 and half year left and a top of the rotation arm. I feel like our pitching team could improve his change-up and he could go from a 4+ era guy to a sub 3. I would give up a top 100 prospect but Gasser and Eric Brown seems like start of a solid package for him.

Somebody pick me up. Watching MLBN. In 90 minutes of trade rumor discussion, not one mention of the Brewers. Braves chasing relievers, Reds and their pitching needs, Stanton rumored to Giants (not suggesting him to Brewers), Texas and Dodgers adding entire lineups, Cron gone,  Grichuk an Angel, I’m bummed. After the weekend, not sure it matters anyway. Oy.

The Brewers are one of only three NL teams to make a deal as of yet.

They’ve already been more proactive than most of their competition and probably have at least one more move up their sleeve before the deadline.

The market has been described by a few, including Arnold, as being "slow developing."

Tomorrow morning might be crazy. However, I think there are fewer sellers this year than most, and I think the deadline goes with a wimper.

I expect the Brewers to make one more deal. But I expect it to be something minor. (i.e a crummy vet releiver or middle infielder.).

In my opinion the "bite of the apple" approach means the half-arse approach. Arnold is going to "tweak" the team but not really make any major upgrades.

Expanded playoffs are going to drain the fun out of these trade deadlines going forward I’m afraid.

You're right on. Almost everyone thinks they have a chance.  The cubs are the prime example this year.

The Angels and Rangers are acquiring all the players. There will be no one left for any other team.

Thats what happens when one of two team go "all-in."

And boy the Angels are going to stink in a few years when Ohtani is gone for nothing but a QO.,

The whole thing is incredibly disappointing to me. I dont see the Brewers as having a shot to make the World Series much less win it. If we had decided to trade it would have been a lot of fun to see what we could have gotten for Burnes, Williams, Caratini etc.  If you're not going to "go for it" with Woodruff, Burnes, and Williams on the roster, then for gosh sakes, start the quick re-load now.

Snow White also had a "bite of the apple" approach. Got her a long hibernation during which she wasn't competitive, until a rich man stepped in and and changed her fortunes.

I still think we’ll get a pretty good return for Burnes in the offseason but I hear what you’re saying.

Also if you get current form of Burnes, and the early season form of Woodruff, they can shutout anyone with this back end bullpen too. So get in the playoffs and let's see what they can do

This offense certainly should have more consistency than last seasons, particularly with Yelich and Contreras and if you can get bang average production in other places

Plus Tellez could catch fire

Lots of ifs and buts there but it is a scenario where the streaky hitters get hot, and the pitchers do their thing

Gosh, I hope all you glass half full guys are correct, I really do!

However, I have written off Rowdy completely.  What a failure of a season.  Adames same thing, I want no part of him once his contract is done, and at this point, I'm not sure anyone else in MLB does either.  His trade value has plummeted.

Trading Burnes and Woodruff is going to look super bad to the fan base, but they really have no choice.  They just have to do it.

I can’t see too many fans putting up much of a fuss if we trade them in the offseason, especially if we go down quickly and easily in the postseason. I think most understand our financial constraints, particularly with Burnes.

We could just agree that no one controls destiny, by its very definition, and quit using the term. Destiny is something that is preordained and inevitable, as in "A Cardinal fan's destiny is to be insufferable."
