You know, I thought about that a lot and I think the Contreras trade will eclipse it. That 2008 run was magical but it was like 15 starts, ended abruptly, and cost quite a bit.

You weren't an ardent fan at that time then...in retrospect your comments make sense from an outsider...but good lord...27 years or whatever without even a playoff experience is hard to go through...

Oh, I was actually following the Brewers pretty closely at that point and was into it (though admittedly, not like most of you because I was in SoCal).

It was insane, I was sooooo excited that Sabathia was just... incredible. It got to such a point that I was literally worried about Sabathia's arm and his pending free agency because he was THROWING SO MANY INNINGS, ALL THE INNINGS.

At one point, didn't he almost throw three complete games in a row?

(and to show my Brewers love, I didn't look that up, haven't seen it anywhere recently, just going straight up from memory)

Apologies to anyone who thinks I'm a bit of a lunatic right now, I am, this is what I look like after a week of spending 15 hours at or near a computer for a week and paying WAYYYYY too much attention to baseball that wasn't in a fun way.

It's just really great to watch baseball again without... well, working.

It's so weird because if you go see the Brewers play at Wrigley, the fans are generally great and it's a fun time.

I actually did go to a Brewers-Cubs game at Wrigley a few years ago and I wasn’t that amused by the guy next to me who thought it was OK to reach over me and my daughter to high five the Cubs fans on the other side of us whenever the Cubs did anything.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Back in control of own destiny.

So, all they have to do is win out.

Eesh. Lively for the Reds is wearing it with 13 runs allowed, ALL earned.

The Cubs apparently didn’t find him to be as mystifying as the Brewers did as they scored 9 total runs against him in 4 starts.

Yea that doesn't sound fun. I've had nothing but good times there thankfully. Some good-natured smack talk but all in good fun.

Last year there was one loudmouthed lady who kept screaming expletives at Yelich and Urias everytime they came to the plate, letting Yelich know how much he sucked especially. But a few of the Cubs fans around us turned around and told her that Yelich doesn't suck, actually, and that she should shut the hell up lol.

I have literally only heard the phrase “control your own destiny” in sports to mean that a team can accomplish something by winning its own games regardless of the results of any other games.

Great win and I live a half a mile from Wrigley. Hate how much I enjoy watching games there. Everyone is friendly. Doesn’t hurt my wife is a cubs fan.

Seriously man, cool off a bit. There's no reason to dismiss that comment.

Because that's literally the way I understand "control your own destiny", too.
