Remember when everyone was complaining about the horrible deadline we had?

To say that now, you'd have to squint your eyes really hard and only see Chafin.

What made it particularly bad was those proclamations were already being made not even a week after the deadline.

This game is about alot of things but one of them is how Bryce Wilson has been a huge part of this team. Huge having a true long man who can pitch.

It's crazy. The Padres were all in constructing this team.  We sometimes complain from time to time about the Crew, but things could be a lot worse!

It looks like the pirates and cardinals have their eyes set on higher draft picks

Uribe's bad day balanced by Megill's good day. Bullpen is really fun - if a little scary at times. But we won - so all good.

When those 2 guys are your #5 and #6 guys out of the pen (Heck...Wilson showed maybe he should be #5...so 6 and 7?) you know you've got a good bullpen.  Hopefully they've got 2 more months in them...

Megill continues to thrive in that up 4, late inning role.  Guy has been lights out.  Hope it continues.  Not sure what tweak they made with his delivery last time down but whatever it is it is definitely working.  I can't remember a time in which this guy knew where his pitches were going.  It's evident he has a level of confidence he has lacked his entire career.  You can't teach that speed but it's obvious he has been taught some aspects of harnessing it.  Fun to watch.    For as much crap as I, and others, have given our hitting that has lacked most of the season (take out the last 2 weeks or so), the bullpen and pitching in general is the polar opposite.  Turn crap meat into a prime steak.

Those. Trade deadline acquisitions looking real good to me

It's almost like people shouldn't have used a 10 game sample to come to any conclusions.

I'm extremely confident that those folks have learned their lesson though.

The general notion has pretty much always been if this team could hit they have a chance. They been hitting and they are winning. Seems about right.
