Game 14: Bucs @ Packers - Sunday, Dec. 17th 12 PM

This all being said, LT thinking and eyes on the prize. As I see it:

Packers currently have the 11th, 37th, and 43rd picks in the Top 50 after the morning games?

Toss in 2 3rd's and likely 2 4th's (Lazard salary and signing).

That's a massive chest of assets. After the success of this most recent draft I feel reluctantly very hopeful.

Kind of lost in the noise was the fact that LA and Chiefs both dropped late touchdown passes that would have made this a four game losing streak.

Too many high defensive draft picks, and far too long there is room for accountability beyond just Barry to justify why the defense is so bad and continues to be bad year after year.

Baker Mayfield becomes the first visiting quarterback EVER with a perfect passer rating (158.3) at Lambeau Field.

Joe Barry. Agreed.  Moving on. I've wasted plenty of breath there.

Walker and Douglas don't seem to work well together.  Specifically, Walker seems much less effective when Douglas starts. Not as much because Douglas is making the plays... Walker seems much less connected to wha the D is doing.  Running around fast, but rarely in a place to make plays.

Love does not play well when blitzed.  Ignore the stats that we put on the screen, because it is a paper tiger.  I've not seen him: 1) Identify a blitzer and shift coverage, 2) Find the open WR vacated by the blitzer, 3) Make a dangerous play when blitzed. Yes, he completed a bunch of short passes to WRs for short gains, but he is missing the soft spot in the D.  Not that he can't learn this... just something people will continue to do if he can't make them pay on it.

Great start for Jones... then nada.  Where'd he go? Hope it was a pitch count and not just "forgetting" your main playmaker.

Wicks: welcome back.  We missed you while injured.

Doubs: He is there... but not there. Makes a few nice catches each week, but just doesn't step up when we are short like now.

Samari: Bo Melven is active over Samari?  Not a great sign for the guy.  An egnimatic guy.

Kraft: can't wait to have Musgrave back with Kraft.  They are gong to make a wicket duo.

Stokes: Barely saw him out there.  Which is good for a CB because it means they were going elsewhere.  Nice day back.  Granted Valentine was barely tested either... they just kept going to our very soft gooey center of the D.  Nixon, ILBs, and Safeties gave up everything today.

Ok, I lied, a Defense question: Do we ever blitz?  I don't remember a single one.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I'm guessing the local morning sports talk radio will be interesting tomorrow.

This is the kind of game that makes you want to call in sick just so you can listen to those broadcasts. I'll just hope Barry is fired by the time I get off work tomorrow.

I've read a few articles where the writer was lamenting making a change because we didn't have any other good options to run the defense right now but what kind of message does it send to allow this to continue?

The fact that we don't have any assistant coaches that are even a remotely sought after reflects pretty poorly on MLFs evaluation skills.

Last week, CB Carrington Valentine doesn't get the call on a crucial down and distance in the Giants game-winning drive (we all know what I'm talking about here). Those just can not happen. That is on the D-Coordinator. There's just too much incompetence on film and teams know it. They know how to attack it all.

Are you talking about the Wan'Dale Robinson play where he beat Nixon or one of the earlier plays and not the last series?

You could...if you cared to...argue that we're young in the secondary and we just don't have the talent and Stokes is just back, Jaire still out(just tell us what exactly the injury is so we're not guessing as we were when he had a broken shoulder and guessing each week and people aren't speculating he doesn't want to play).

That he's getting heat last week for playing off, he plays press and we get burned...but Barry is just so timid and weak, it doesn't matter. He's awful. He doesn't elevate his players in any way. We have good stretches, seemingly it's in spite of him.

He had an awesome gameplay vs the Lions and the Chiefs(I'd look at whoever came up with that, sure as hell wasn't Barry).

Rob Grosso could be an option. I don't know if it's on MLF or a structural change with Murphy interfering in the hiring process as he's done a couple times, but it's not pretty in any event.
