Garcia threw 49.2 innings in the ACL in 2021, but has only pitched 1.1 innings over the last 2.5 seasons due to injuries.

Timmerman, 21 (22 next month), the 16th round 2023 pick out of Ohio State, tossed five effective innings on June 9th, his 10th appearance of 2024, but had been sidelined since.

The 6'6" Vire, 20 (21 in September) joined the Brewers back in 2021, 12th round pick out of a Washington state high school. Vire was hit hard in three appearances to begin 2024 (in particular his first two). Maryvale is all Vire has known in his pro career. He missed all of 2023 with an undisclosed injury.

The only "Dencer" in the history of professional baseball, Geraldo was signed as an 18-year-old in August of 2021, so he was a post-signing period lower dollar addition out of the Dominican Republic. Geraldo posted ERA's of 11.88 and 6.16 in '21-'22, respectively, in a combined 39 Dominican Summer League innings. Although never placed on an injured list in 2023, he made only two brief relief appearances in a 3rd DSL season. Even so, Geraldo was brought stateside this spring and has struggled in eight relief outings (game logs) - 2.63 WHIP, 7 BB, 5 HBP's in 5.1 IP. The guess here was that Geraldo has a huge power arm the Brewers were hoping to harness, but it has not happened to date. We wish Dencer well should he wish to pursue further baseball dreams.

- INF Juan Baez sent by Low-A Carolina on rehab assignment to ACL Brewers

This may have just made my week!!!

A rehabbing Baez means he could be coming back to the Mudcats in the next few weeks.  That would be so awesome.  I know a very good infielder who they could promote up to Wisconsin, even if Baez is not a SS, but getting him at 3B means Guilarte/DiTuri can cover SS/2B.

Any idea what the injury is?

Nashville Sounds placed SS Freddy Zamora on the 7-day injured list retroactive to July 11, 2024.

Milwaukee Brewers optioned SS Vinny Capra to Nashville Sounds.

Convenient timing for the infield mix, though Zamora could be back while, depending on the nature of his injury, missing minimal time with this week's All-Star break.

Arroyo did play in yesterday’s ACL game according to the box score. He was HBP in his first AB and was removed before he hit again, so we’ll need to keep an eye on that.

Cabrera, a Dominican native, had yet to pitch in 2024 in what would have been his age 20 season. He was not on a formal injury list.

Though his name doesn't pop into our memories (at least for most), Cabrera saw regular action in the Dominican Summer League (Team #1) in both 2022 and 2023. He was part of the July 2021 international class, the last class to be signed in mid-July as opposed to the now-January period.

As you'll see via his player page above, Cabrera was not a strikeout pitcher, particularly last summer, but fashioned a reasonable 1.23 WHIP in his 60.1 innings.

Cabrera actually ended his pro career in style as it turns out (box score). He pitched five scoreless innings, allowing only a walk and a single, in defeating a powerful 35-15 Dodgers team last August 16th.

Cabrera is the only "Jesael" to have played professional baseball.

Here's to wishing him well as he approaches his 21st birthday in October.
