I kind of liked the other two backups (and Quero in AAA) more than enough.   Might Contreras be dangled?  Someone had to say this out loud so I guess it’ll be me.

I don't see it happening, especially with Sanchez on a one year deal. You would be relying on a rookie catcher just as the Brewers' new competitive window really starts to open up. I think they'll trade Contreras eventually, but not this year or even next year.

This move is about filling the DH position and adding power to the lineup after last year's mostly punchless lineup.

Love it. Arnold and co. can keep zigging and zagging away for all I'm concerned. These moves cost zero in terms of prospects and long-term financial flexibility.

I would guess it has minimal affect on the current catchers in the system, but if anything, I would guess it might make Quero (who's already blocked and may have already be dangled in discussions) more available than it would Contreras. But again, I kind of doubt it really affects either of them, especially if he's getting picked up more as a DH than a backup C.

That said, will be interesting to hear how the FO views him!

Wouldn't be surprised if it ends up actually being something similar to the Junis deal though.

Prefer him to Haase and Nola. Useful to have enough catchers until Quero is ready, especially with Hasse and Nola's recent batting record.

I am okay with this, I would have preferred Soler but Sanchez can be the backup catcher and DH. 

It is interesting that the payroll went down 15.6 mil after trading Burnes and then almost immediately gets spent. I hope the payroll isn't that strict.

I also assume we are done adding now.

Man, that's 14 million in Junis and Sanchez?  That money could have been spent a lot better in JD Martinez.

That's more so my point. You are insinuating the Brewers didn't reach out at all to JD's team to ask, and then faulting them for it, without the knowledge of ... unless there is info out there I missed.
