Lions aren't out of the water here but it feels like every good title run has a gut check where you have to overcome some things and it sure looks like they've managed to figure something out defensively. I am pulling for the Vikes but this would be impressive.

Lion TD here and this one is over.

Enjoy that 14-win wild card, Vikings fans. At least their magical season coincided with Detroit’s and so no more than one of them can emerge. Got to imagine there’s only regression coming for both, or at least one would hope. Their staffs are about to be absolutely raided.

And going to LA is not exactly a gimme either. The Rams already beat the Vikes this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they give them all they can handle in that one.

The Rams should be favored in that game, and I'd be surprised if the Vikings upset them

Big Mac’s demise in Dallas is utterly predictable—this was always how it was going to end. Jerry would get distracted by the shiny bauble (Deion) and not look in the mirror for his team’s struggles.

Now, if Mac goes to Chicago, that would be equally interesting and sad. First of all, as a Packers fan, it would not intimidate me too greatly, particularly if he insists on calling plays, since I think his system is outdated and he has a definite ceiling at this point in his career. I think he’s a solid culture guy, for the most part, so in that sense, he might do some good for the Bears who are an organization that can’t get out of their own way. But he won’t be the GM, he won’t fix their janky hierarchy, and I don’t think he’ll get them to the promised land. He can win ten or eleven games if things go right, but he’ll be walking into a division that looks to be a knife fight for at least a few years and he’ll have a lot of work cut out for him.

Mainly, though, I’m tired of seeing guys I really liked and rooted for end up with hated rivals. I know the league doesn’t care about this anymore like the fans do, but it tarnishes his memory for me if he dons the navy blue and orange. I expect he’ll see Chicago as the best situation as an offensive guy, but I hope he doesn’t do it. He should go to New Orleans…or New York (ha).

Jerry's approach to this really made no sense. I think he decided to fire McCarthy once word got out that McCarthy was even entertaining the Bears. That hurt Jerry because it meant to him that McCarthy wasn't all-in, when in reality he was doing what any sane person would do and making sure he had a job next season.

Jerry then pretends he's hung up on length of contract so they can "mutually part ways." If the negotiations were really stalled, they should have known that weeks ago and had a larger pool of candidates to look at, now they're out anyone who's been hired but more importantly they lost the chance to interview anyone from KC or DET.

Yep - Jerry is the problem and will continue to be until he gets a gm/pres of football ops in there and stays in his owners box

The idea that Mike McCarthy would go from Dallas to Chicago is kind of funny.  He would go from one team with a meddling owner and questionable culture to another team with a meddling owner and bad culture.

Even Williams and Prescott could be seen as very similar style QBs.  Maybe a bit early on Williams to say that, but there are certainly similarities.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

It will serve the Cowboys right to hire Coach Prime and his drama infused media frenzy nonsense.

If they hired Deion does that mean they'd try and trade Prescott in order to trade up to draft Shadeur Sanders to be QB?

That would be awesome!  And then Prime could start himself at WR to play with his son! LeBron eat your heart out!

I sent some laughing-at-you gifs to my Cowboys-fan coworker and he didn't even flinch about Schottenheimer. He's just totally dead inside.

I'm looking forward to giving the business to my also dead inside Cowboys fan coworker.

You’re chewing up clock, converting 4th down after 4th down with the best NFL 4th down offense, and now when it gets to chip shot range, now you want to take the 3? I just don’t really get it. Maybe they figured they were bound to fail one eventually and didn’t want to leave a big time consuming drive empty handed.
