I haven't seen this anywhere else but apparently Tyler Black is getting the call.

There you go:

Black has to be added to the 40 man roster so something has to give there. The end of the road for Brewer fan favorite Jake Bauers?

I could see them sending Dunn down too and just opening a spot for now with the Miley move to the 60 day.

Either way good to see Black get his opportunity

Based on the eye-test, I'm surprised Bauers has been as poor as he's been. I just think they have to release him. Of course, they can send down Miller or Dunn, too, but I feel like they are just delaying the inevitable.

I'm very worried about Black being really really poor in the field, though.

Just release Bauers already.  Give Tyler spot starts at first but mainly he can be the strong side of a DH platoon with Sanchez.

I'd guess its Dunn or Miller but we'll see.      I think I mentioned it in a game thread so some might not have seen, but I looked it up and as of like 4 days ago Black had only played one game at 3B so far this year.  So taking a bunch of starts at 3B in MLB seems unlikely if they haven't been prepping him for it.  But we'll see

If you suck so bad you swing and miss, the catcher can't even catch the ball, and then you manage to doink the catcher with your backswing so the runner can't even score on your sad attempt of an AB....time to go.

Not to derail the thread, but Bauers has also enjoyed the best spot in the lineup, in front of Hoskins with RBI opportunities. The Brewers have basically given Bauers a month-long posh role on the club to see if he can capture some of his prospect magic, and he hasn't done it.

Bauers is not leaving as much as we might want him to. They gave up Avina and Sánchez for him and is 5th on the team for RBIs. He is the best 1st baseman defensively, and has good Barrel%, sweetspot and exit velo numbers. Not saying I agree with keeping him, but I don't think they will be done with the guy after only a month,

Its Dunn or Miller, I think Miller. Miley to 60-day IL.

Maybe they'll put him in LF?

My guess would be that if they were going to play him in left they would be prepping him for it in AAA.

I’m interested to see how they use him…….the Brewers value defense and reports haven’t been great no matter where they’ve put him.

Yea just one day prior Bauers was 3/5 with a 3 run HR, and his start before was a 2/5.    Not like I'd be surprised or upset if he was out, it does make some sense with the position overlap with Black, but I'd guess its one of the other guys.   It'll be interesting where they find ABs for Black though.

I wonder where he'll bat in the lineup? I could see him hitting in literally any spot.

Bauers is 5 for his last 18 with a double, a homerun and plays good defense at first.

Oliver Dunn doesn’t bring anything to the table, neither does Owen Miller but for his ability to play OF in a pinch. One of them is likely demoted since they hardly play anyways

Well it’s about time! There is nothing left for Tyler to prove in the minors, glad he finally got the call!

More deserving than Chourio coming into the season, but thus, extra year of control.

I’m always interested to see if a prospect that comes up will be the rare one that makes a significant impact.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Or...immediate impact.  Literally every player in MLB was once a prospect.  I get what you mean though...every average veteran MLB player was once a super-hyped prospect making his debut,

I’ve just learned over the years to temper my expectations.

I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve heard people get excited about a prospect or minor leaguer and how he should be up instead of someone currently on the team. But for every Ryan Braun there are many Randy Readys who have done nothing but hit at every level (until they get to the majors).

At least in Black’s case there is enough dead weight on the current roster that the bar to make an improvement is pretty low.

So if it's Miller or Dunn (my guess), then other than the DH slot your bench is one INF, one OF, a C & two 1B. Strange.

I made it known I wasn't happy with the Bauers trade at the time. Certainly sporadic w/the bat, but to be fair if you look at the entire season we might have a couple more losses if not for his glove. That gets magnified when you look at Hoskins' defense (although it looks like he might be settling in there a little), and even more when you consider Blacks' struggles. I don't see Bauers simply getting released. Does he have options?

I'd be surprised if Bauers gets released. But I agree with how you think Black will be used.
