I am wondering if we could possibly get both pitchers for a package of Black/Wiemer/Dunn/Lefson/Comp pick.   Close at all?

Maybe sub in a pitcher for Dunn or comp pick…

We could probably afford to have Crochet skip a start here or there which imho makes the brewers the best fit for him.

I would guess talks for Crochet start at Misio/Quero, especially this far out from the deadline.

Black/Wiemer might be enough to get them listening on Fedde.

Crochet should get a package similar to what Dylan Cease got. 3 solid but very good borderline top 100 prospects and a throw in 4 piece. With a better piece like Black you would maybe make that 3rd piece weaker. Fedde probably is on the 2 solid pieces end (non top 100).

I would be ok with paying up for 1 off them but 2 might be a bit to much in prospect value.

If that would get Crochet, I'd jump at that deal!  I no longer believe in Wiemer, Black would hurt me though...  Dunn, buh bye!

That's why I prefer Fedde.

A CWS guy you could probably get for much cheaper is Kopech.   Obviously that is for good reason as he's been rough the last couple years, but his profile is the exactly type of thing MKE has gotten ahold of the last 5ish years and been able to mold into a good pitcher much better than their previous teams did.    Has started in the past so could start stretching him back out or focus on tweaking him into another reliever with 100 mph and big breaking pitch    Just saying, it wouldn't surprise me at all that if this guy was on the Brewers he'd be killing it rather than floundering.

Seems he has one more year of Arby left, only being paid 3 mil this year and is struggling so cost to acquire should be minimal.

It would take much more than that to get Crochet in a trade. Pretty sure he doesn't hit arbitration for a couple years yet, at least.

I am not concerned about the past relief history, he was a starter in college and the rushed him to the bigs and put him in relief and then when he was going to start got hurt. He is a big strong young pitcher but I think the innings is the concern, the Sox's have been good about not pushing him (88 pitches per start) and game against us was only game into 100 pitches. If he only averages 6 innings a start the rest of the way that would put him close to 180 innings which seems like a lot for a guy who has thrown 90 innings the past 4 years combined. Even in college he threw only 65ish innnings each year.

I like Crochet a bunch but would need some protection if we give up a big package. Maybe we get a PTBNL that if he throws over 160 innings this year is a lower level prospect and if he doesnt hit 160 innings or gets hurt it would be a better prospect.

Crochet would fit in perfectly with Peralta, Woody, Rae, and the young guys next year and beyond. We might be even able to sign him to a decent long term contract (would be risky) since he hasn't made much money and has arm injury history. I think he would be a great candidate for a funky contract with a bunch of if/then team/player options.

He's arby eligible next season.

Saying he was a starter in college is a bit generous. He maxed out at 65 IP in a college season. That’s not a starter workload. He's already thrown 10 more innings this year than he has in a single season in his career and he’s 13 innings away this year from matching his total IP from 2020-2023.

That and the price to get Fedde should be much more reasonable than Crochet.

You're right. I meant to say before he hits free agency. Just looked, and he has 3 years of arbitration(control) left. That means it will probably take a kings ransom to aquire him.

If I pay to trade for crochet, there is no innings limit though I’ll skip a start once or twice if I can.

If there's no innings limit, you're risking injury and ineffectiveness for 2025/2026, so you're paying a king's ransom for liekly far less production.

If we want to believe in Black and Dunn being a part of our IF going forward, we could actually afford then to reluctantly package Wilken and Boeve together in a Crochet deal (we’d at least need to add one pitcher I know)…

The team in Chicago says NO, and then blocks Arnold's phone number.

Crochet, isn’t going to moved.  Fedde is the guy that makes sense.
