EBJ just hit an absolute bomb. Maybe his bat is finally going to get going.

The Office Crying GIF

We can only hope. We know it's in there. It certainly hasn't come out all that much so far in 2024.

Doston's second error in LF over the past week allows another runner to take 2nd base on what should have been a routine single. Uncharacteristic from him.

AND, this one cost the T-Rats. Wehrle.

This inning should have been over. Sigh.

Doston completely misread a routine bloop pop fly to deep left CF. He took too many steps back and then couldn't reach it and then bobbled the gather off the bounce. Woof.

THEN, an utterly uber-weak roller to O'Rae at 2B who charges and misfires on a ball that never should have been thrown. The runner was safe. Eat the ball, Dylan. He throws up line and to the dugout and the runner scores rounding 3rd with ease.

Has to be frustrating for Wehrle. That run crosses with 2 down. T-Rats now trail 3-1. That's their 3rd error of the night. Ruh roh.

AND, those errors realllly caused a meltdown. Wehrle hangs an absolute meatball breaking ball dead center. 5-1. Two run jack.

I'll mirror Mehring's sentiments: "Oooooof."

Next pitch? A standing triple to deep right CF. All the way to the 405 sign. Wehrle likely pulled here? Nope. Just a mound visit. Fly out to LF to end it.

Hey now, we have an Jash Adamczewski sighting as he's playing his first ball of 2024! 1-2, 1 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI. You love to see it! ACL Crew lead 5-1 in the bottom of the 2nd.

Lets get our first collective look at last year's 14th Rd draft pick out of HS, RHP Hayden Robinson. Certainly has movement on these off-speed pitches. Yowza!

Digging back through the DSL boxes, given that he reached base four times in his season debut today, I'll say this: if you want a really deep DSL sleeper, you could do worse than Freider Rojas. His stats last year were nothing to write home about outside of two key things. First, he walked more than he struck out. Second, he threw out 40% of would-be base stealers.

I know Wehrle had a troubling 8th inning BUT the scorer crediting him w 3 earned runs is absurd. That is all I have to aay about that. Hrmmmpf.😅

Zona Crew has added four more runs and now lead the mighty Dodgers 9-1 through seven.

Adamczewski (have fun typing that one on the regular link reporters) added a second double to his ledger.

Bitonti is 2 for 3 with two walks and a stolen bag so far.

Old friend Felix Valerio 1 for 2 with a double, two walks and a HBP

Gery Holguin 1 for 2 with a double, sac fly, HBP and four RBI.

Hayden Robinson has struck out four through two perfect relief frames.

Speaking of perfect innings, looks like Bo Bowman went three up three down three strikeouts for Biloxi tonight.

Craig Yoho struck out four to go along with two walks and a single that scored the Manfred Man over 1.2 IP.

Justin Yeager recorded all four of his outs via K working around a triple that scored the Manfred Man.

Hayden Robinson struck out the first batter of the 9th before giving up a double and being relieved by Dencer Geraldo who got a fly out and ground out to secure the 9-1 victory for AZ Crew.

I watched Biloxi for the first time this evening and turned on the game late. Boeve swung too hard, hurt his hamstring, and was lifted for a pinch runner. Yoho couldn't hold the lead to close the game. I'll just not watch in the future, sorry.

Adamczewski with a great ‘24 debut and Hayden Robinson’s last 2 outings:

8 innings 3H 1R  1BB 16K.

The ‘24 draft-class just keeps getting better and better.

Mike Boeve was 6-for-8 in the Biloxi doubleheader (double, five singles).

You can watch all four of his singles from Game Two in this video.

In rewatching the MiLB.TV archive of the game (subscribers can find that here, go to the 02:08:20 hour/minute mark), you'll see the top of the 7th inning at-bat in a game tied at 2-2 where Boeve swings hard and misses the 1-0 pitch, he then takes a brief walk but clearly grabbed at his hamstring, the Montgomery announcer is on it with the call.

Boeve is visited by Manager Joe Ayrault and Trainer Andrew Staehling but is allowed to remain in the game. Via the first video linked above, you see the 4th single from Boeve on a 2-2 cound against former Brewers farmhand RHP Evan Reifert.

Brock Wilken is up next and lines a single to center, while Boeve, "not moving quickly at all" per the broadcast, stops at second base (it's unlikely even a speedy runner would have advanced to third base on the knock).

Finally, after the count moves to 1-1 on Zavier Warren, Ayrault sends Ben Metzinger in to pinch-run for Boeve. Warren strikes out, Eric Brown Jr. grounds out and the Shuckers do not score in a game they eventually won 5-4 in nine innings (scheduled for seven as the second game of the twinbill).

The only person who seemed to be on top of their game in this sequence was the Biscuits' announcer Jack Sadighian (we don't have archived access to Voice of the Shuckers' Javik Blake's call of the broadcast for this road game).

Very odd, and off-putting by Ayrault and Staehling, especially if Boeve misses more than a single game or lands on the injured list.

The errors would have never resulted in outs they just let runners advance so if the errors wouldnt have happened the HR still would have brought all the runs in.  They just scored sooner then they should have.

I think you underestimate how lazy the pop fly to CF was for Doston. 2-3 false steps back toward the wall as opposed to reading it off the bat allowed it to drop. That was a very catchable ball by my goggles. Then, a run scores directly because O'Rae throws a ball up line and to the stands/dugout. If that's not directly a run plating because of a misfire in your eyes, well we are watching two entirely different games. 😁. Before he forced the throw, the runner was standing and staying @ 3B.

As to the thinking of "The runs would have plated later anyway." I just don't agree with that whatsoever. IF any of those plays are made in the correct manner, I like to think the pitcher's mentally are more fine tuned and elevated to the moment.

Anyhow, all my blather is meaningless in the end. They were scored earned.

Man just so many injuries this year, both at the big league level and in the minors.
