At what point do we just admit that the Rays and Brewers actually share a single 80-man roster and just take turns adjusting their individual 26-man?

I actually wonder from time to time if they "help each other out".

It would make some sense, actually. Even if it's a little collusion-y.

I still think a chunk of this is going to be sorted out with a young OF or two moving in a deadline trade, then a couple reliever DFAs when guys like Williams and another starter acquired via trade need to be added back onto the 26 man roster.

There simply is not enough room on this roster to carry both Frelick and Mitchell longterm when you've got Chourio and Yelich requiring everyday playing time in the OF - I still think I'd prefer Frelick being the one included in a deadline trade, simply because he doesn't have enough pop to be a corner OF and he's not as good defensively as a healthy Mitchell in CF.

Kuhnel has appeared in parts of 5 major league seasons and is now with his 5th organization as a professional. Happy coincidence that it’s the Rays, but really it’s the career path of a fringe journeyman pitcher

Agreed with this line of thought (moving an OF), but would rather see Perkins be the one dangled.  Might be the opportunity to sell "high" on him (or at least as high as possible).

Welp, with Yelich going back on the IL (with what appears to be an ominous tone), the roster crunch is shaking out a bit now. Mitchell, Frelick, Chourio, Perkins and perhaps Haase (39 career starts in LF) share the OF duties for the time being. Wiemer, Brewer Hicklen or Tyler Black perhaps get a look. We hope to see Yelich in September.

DL Hall, Bukauskas, and Ross are all rehabbing at AAA and will need 40 man roster spots once they come off the 60 day IL. Seems likely a RP trade may be in the making in the next day or so. Milner, Peguero, Payamps would all be upgrades to some teams and have some value.

Sanchez I believe as signed to be traded mid year because we had a healthy Quero back then who should have been ready by now. Haase can remain as backup catcher and Crew still get their Sanchez trade to help out the roster crunch.

It should be time to remove the 3rd catcher now that the trade deadline has come & gone

I assume we will soon DFA Haase & lose him to a playoff contender looking for a good backup C

Would Hicklen or Black be a good replacement?

Yes, I see your point and there is always Garrett Mitchel to cut also. There are a lot of choices of who to cut.
