The cubs and that money grubbing little manager of theirs can leave town now.

I hope there's road construction the entire way

Summer + midwest equals construction.  It is impossible to not run into some kind of road construction in the midwest during the summer.

Yelich is so weird.   He will go weeks where he looks like he has no power and then club a homer about 500 feet

It’s like he has to power up

Now Freddy looks un-hittable … like the best pitcher in baseball … totally dominating the Cubbies

I prefer this version of Peralta over the first inning version… nice turnaround

Hope he goes 8 innings today & allows the bullpen to rest

How often does he struggle in early innings and then get into a groove?

He has the knack for turning things around in a snap. His first 6-7 ABs of this series I thought were horrible. Now all of a sudden today he's seeing the ball & not helping the pitcher out. And it's not like Adames hitting behind him is doing him any favors these days.

I don't even agree with your premise it seems like you picked a number to agree with your "pilling on" runs.  I think 6 runs or more would be more of a qualifier of "piling on" runs as 4 runs on average is going to win you a game more times than not.  The Brewers have scored 6 runs or more 8 times this month.  So they have been "piling on" runs plenty enough.

We had a fairly lengthy discussion about this in a thread earlier this month.

There’s no objective definition of this, but I set the piling on point higher than 6. Even if 4 is the point where the winning percentage gets close to 50%,a few additional runs can significantly increase the winning percentage. They also can provide some cushion that allows the team to avoid using its top line relievers.

But when you get up to 9 or 10 that’s usually more often than needed for a comfortable win and additional runs from there can pad the statistics without helping the win percentage.

By having more games of scoring 5 or 6 runs and fewer of 10 or more and 3 or less, the Brewers have been able to maintain a winning pace while slipping in MLB scoring ranks.

Great win today

I wonder if Adames stays in the clean up spot tomorrow in Colorado

Since they're winning, I think you just leave him there & wait for Bad Willy--which we are all too familiar with--to leave town, which inevitably happens. Then hope he stays away a long time.

I'll tell you one thing. He must be one interesting cat. Watching him after the game doing his celebratory Gatorade thing--just the genuine smile, the pure fun the guy's having. For most people that's probably forced when you're 0-for-twenty something. You can tell that with him it isn't. I get why he's so loved in the clubhouse. I just wish the dry spells weren't so dang-blasted ugly.

I believe you are smarter than that - Jekyll & Hyde to me refers to his inconsistency from start to start

he recovered nicely today after another poor first inning

Happy to entertain you

Your quote. You’re saying you weren’t referring to today?

Colorado is tough place for teams to adjust to I would guess but they aren't good so shoot for a sweep.

It’s four games.

Shooting for a sweep is fine, but after what happened there last year (when they were also not good) I would start with winning one and going from there.

Rockies always have drastic home road splits. Four gamer at Coors is no joke no matter how big of a joke the Rockies are in general. Obviously a sweep would be great but I’d be fine getting out of there with a split.

2024
H: 16-24 (.400)
A: 12-30 (.286)

2023:
H: 37-44 (.477)
A: 22-59 (.272)

2022
H: 41-40 (.506)
A: 27-54 (.333)

2021
H: 48-33 (.593)
A: 26-54 (.325)

Both today & the 2024 season in general

During the first inning today, Freddy once again had a high pitch count including a lead off homer, hit by Bellinger, & a walk … vs the rest of the game completely dominant

His season overall has been up & down … I never know what to expect from game to game - high pitch, mediocre Freddy or lights out Freddy

Rea is not nearly as talented as Freddy but is far more consistent from game to game - almost always competitive & often produces a quality start

You don’t have to agree with me - I’m fine if you are happy with him each game - I have high expectations for him that often go unmet

As I’ve posted earlier … towards the end of the IGT … he certainly turned things around after a shaky first inning

I’m thrilled he did so & loved spanking the Cubs & winning the series

I will likely be nervous again next time he pitches in LA later this week based on his inconsistency thus far in 2024 … who knows what to expect

Burnes & Woody seemed to be far more consistent the last few years … Freddy was great today but has been up & down most of the year

Certainly not going to win it

So we agree.
