I'm lost.  What does Rodriguez have to do with this?

Exactly what I was thinking too. Rodriguez? Lol

Methinks a reliever or two gets traded.

That was my initial thought after learning of this. Even with Hudson out, there's a glut of BP arms when you see who is close to returning. And you still have my guy in Biloxi striking out 2 batters per inning.

I hate the term 'JAG' but that pretty aptly describes Blalock. And there are a few starters in the system I'm sure they like better than Herrera who are also further up the ladder. I was never on the 'add a BP arm' bandwagon this year but I doubt the two they dealt would help constitute a package for a DH-OF bat.

After looking at the Wednesday game in Chicago, I think you're on to something & we may not add another starter. Wilson, Junis, Hall and or Ross going 3-4 innings on selected days may be an X factor.

Keep trading for a deadline reliever and hope one sticks

We have traded for relievers who've stuck, but this is more like adding Megill.

A guy with dominant stuff. The difference is, he's had insanely bad luck. A .366 BABIP for a K/GB pitcher? You think that'll be the case in Milwaukee with our defense?

I have a feeling people are going to like this...at least for the next couple years. If we gave up a young 20 year old who becomes something...then people make not love that, but there's nothing to not like about Mears.

This is poor analysis.

It took two players to add a reliever with a close to 6 ERA

Would his ERA be close to 6 if didn't play half of his games in Denver?  😉

How incompetent is the pitching staff in Colorado to have not noticed this and it took a player on another team for him to find out. 🤯

I guess they are as incompetent as the Brewers staff who didn't know that Peralta was tipping pitches in 2023. Someone from another team told Freddy he was tipping his pitches. Start at about the 23 minute mark.

It would be higher haha. He has a 3.16 ERA in Coors this year and an 8.69 ERA out of Coors this year

Forgive me if I just missed it, but where is this guy? I know he was added to the 40-man, but is he with the team and available?

The X from McCalvy posted 6 messages up show him with a Brewers hat in what appears to be the Brewers clubhouse. I imagine he is available for Sunday but just wasn't used. Players do have 72 hours before they have to report to the new team. Or maybe he was just using that time to get him/his family situated for moving to a new home on Sun.

Impressive debut with crazy good stuff.  Obviously it's one game but you can see the tools and why they wanted to get ahold of him.  Seems a very good chance this is gonna be yet another great BP find for them

You have to give this front office credit. They have been nothing short of superb at turning reclamation projects into productive bullpen arms.

So, if Mears is for real, we are looking at Mears in the 7th, Megill the 8th, and Williams in the 9th for the playoffs?  That is pretty awesome, and can really lock things down once we get to the 7th.  Hudson when healthy for the 6th?

Now we need about 2 starters to get us there...  lol

Good results in his first outing. His fastball is very straight, would like to see the front office suggest a 2 seam and get some arm-side run. Twice he caught guys guessing...that won't happen as teams see him more.

The pure efficiency of spicy takes is extremely impressive here.  I'd only suggest eliminating "seems to"  and turning '"learn" into "learns," as "seems to" softens the post with a certain human-like humility which surely was unintended.
