I would mind giving Rafael Montero a shot but he hasn't been good since 2022.

There are slim pickings and I'd have thought we could have acquired Montero with Houston taking most of his salary just for some salary relief last week.

His underlying metrics are even worse than his numbers.

Fujinami would make more sense...but he's also not cheap and he's ben incredibly wild also.

Not sure there's anyone out that at the moment who's much of an upgrade.

Houser has been worse than last year(which actually was fine)...but Montas looked good. I think we roll with what we've got...for now.

Wishful thinking but Blake Snell after the Giants realize they are not a playoff team.

I knew that'd be a longshot, but given how he was throwing before the break, I was hoping there was a chance we could trade for him...but I didn't think we'd take on that deal or that the Giants would throw in the towel yet.

And that certainly appears to be a good decision.

The Marlins DFA'd Nick Gordon. Former high draft pick of the Twins, who IMO would be an upgrade over Monasterio as a utility player off the bench

I doubt they'd sign Biggio over simply recalling Tyler Black. Problem is neither hit from the right side.

Biggio is an actual infielder and the Brewer's infielders right now are a huge issue

Depends what you mean by “actual infielder”. If you mean sucks at fielding the infield and sucks at the plate…That’s nothing that the 40 man roster-crunched Brewers couldn’t get from Black, who they have stuck at AAA to this point, if they really wanted.

Bottom line is Monasterio is actually solid on defense and versatile and we know how the Brewers value run prevention. There’s a reason why Biggio has been DFA’d by two different teams this year, including the Mookie Betts-less Dodgers.
