Have a contact hitter up and Frelick isn’t even attempting a steal?  What?  This team is just not aggressive enough on the bases.

Hate rooting for scrubs ! But here we go! Go scrubs!

I think its telling that posts updating what the other two teams are doing has become pretty commonplace in the game threads.  It doesn't feel good being relegated to hoping the other teams suck as much as you do rather than having any belief that your team can do it themselves.

Frelick is just not a regular OF.  He is probably at best a 5th OF right now.  Unless he can learn how to hit with more power or be more aggressive running he is just a waste of space on this team.  Probably should have traded him in the off season.  I just don't see Frelick being anything more than a 4th or 5th OF.

Is that a new rule we have, that we no longer want our starters to go longer than five innings, even if you are shutting them down!  For crapsakes, he had less than seventy pitches and could have gone seven innings!

Hoby hasn't been good all year. One thing I've noticed is team seldom get two pitchers ready at the same time. At least the Brewers. When someone doesn't have it they stay in and cost you the game. You can't let that happen.

I want new hitting coaches next year.

Have not seen enough in season improvement the last 2 years to keep them

We've changed hitting coaches.  At what point do we point at the players and our draft and development system/philosophy?

I'm fine with changing both.

Great call on pulling Myers, Murphy. Cost us the game.

I get why he did it. Third time through the order thing, & mostly LHH coming up. But I was unhappy the moment I saw Myers in relax mode in the dugout & knew he was done. We're developing a starter here, and he's at 64 pitches. I let him go at least through Yepez, and possibly finish the inning if you get beyond Yepez & there's no RISP.

Had Milner thrown a scoreless sixth I still wouldn't have liked it.

In the off season I posted something a Padres fan posted on another site where he suggested one of their top prospects )don't remember who) for Frelick straight up and it was scoffed at by everybody here, including me.

This ! I posted earlier in this thread . when is the last time we drafted a player ( non pitcher ) that came in and that actually come in and hit not named Chourio?

If that was Murphy's reasoning he should've remembered Myers threw an eight inning shutout earlier this season. Even Dillard said Murphy should've left Myers in the game.

Its going to be pretty devastating if the Weimer, Frelick, Turang, Mitchell wave produces little outside of Frankie Montas (whether it be performance, ability to stay healthy, or both).  I guess you can dream on Gasser and Ortiz little bit as part of that wave.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Not necessarily agreeing with Murphy here, but he wasn't banking on a DP grounder on either of the next two hitters after Hoskins, and if Frelick was still at 1B w/two outs probably would've run then. Turang hit into the DP, which usually doesn't happen. Ruiz is about avg in throwing out runners, but that gets a bump due to Finnegan being, for a closer, very good at holding runners & preventing steals.

Like pulling Myers, it's one of those things where you can see what he's thinking, but the way things are going right now it'll probably blow up in his face no matter what he does.

And there were major warning signs with Hiura in those couple of months so even then it wasn't as exciting as it should have been.

That is just not true.  Frelick is a fine starting CFer. He has a slightly below average bat and a decent glove for CF. Now the Brewers have two guys (when healthy) who are better than Frelick in Perkins and Mitchell so on the Brewers Frelick is just depth. I was always dubious that Frelick could walk enough and hit enough without any power to play in MLB but he has so far.

I'm sure it had nothing to do with pitch count. This was a one run game, the game in Detroit he had a huge lead. But yeah, I wanted him to stay, too.

I get the reasoning, I just didn't agree with it.

This is almost certainly a front office dictate.  The Brewers don't want most of their starters going 3 times through an order. The bigger issue is the Milner has become super hittable and should not be counted on.

Frelick would be fine if the lineup had more punch but there is not enough run producers.

In his limited PT since his ML debut, Mitchell has hit fairly well, just not able to stay on the field.

Actually, it took a couple months for Chourio to start to hit.
