That is his only time he has been caught stealing in the 2nd half of the season

Not sure if attempts are kept track of but it felt like Turang was running more in the first half than he has been running in the second half.  That maybe because of his lower OBP compared to the first half but it seems as though even when he is getting on base he is staying put more than he is running.  This might be because he is at the top of the order and the team is afraid of "running into outs" at the top of the order.  But Turang has been really successful at stealing bases so I don't believe that should even be a concern.  The one caught stealing in the second half is telling me he is not attempting enough and needs to be trying to steal more.

I think his being on base less has something to do with it, plus earlier in the season he has Contreras in the 2-hole who was hitting to the right side really well then, and is probably more likely to take pitches for Turang & still put up a good AB. With Chourio hitting 2nd, perhaps you're best off just letting him concentrate on getting a good pitch to hit w/o worrying about letting Turang run.

The numbers you posted tell another tale about Turang. A little better than 1:2 strikeout to walk ratio in the 1st half. Now almost 1:3. He can be an effective hitter, but it'll be hard for him if he isn't closer to the 1st half ratio. A little too much chasing.

I agree with you.  Most teams burn their closer in the 9th thinking if we fail here, there is no 10th inning.  Sure helps that we essentially have two closers.

Good thing we have 2 guys who have closer stuff so although Devin clearly is our closer it’s not a difficult decision to let TM have the 9th……especially on the road.

And we were lucky that they were both rested because of Civale’s masterpiece yesterday.

Looks like DL, Wilson and Ross tonight

The best chances of someone else throwing would probably be Koenig or Megill, but I agree I doubt they'd want to do that. None of the Cincy relievers threw many pitches in game one but I don't know if they're comfortable bringing any of them back.

Also, Jake Bauers at 1st base.  No Chourio either.

Brewers have played 134 games now.

Here is Turang through the first 67 team games compared to last 67 so the samples are a little more even from a games standpoint...

F67: 244 PA of 296/361/407 with 23 SB / 1 CS

L67: 265 PA of 216/278/311 with 14 SB / 5 CS

I'd guess Turang is running less of late due to a combination of being on base less, hitting at the top of the order, being thrown out with more frequency and probably just some good old fashioned fatigue in there.

I don't like that last 67 line.

Well there you go... I guess I won't post what I'd written.

On July 3rd Turang still had a season line of 292/354/415 (116 wRC+) over 336 PAs.

Since then he is at 173 PAs of 179/246/244 (39 wRC+).

Pretty crazy the Brewers have still managed to go 26 W - 21 L since July 4th even with their leadoff guy hitting worse than Chris Narveson's 229/270/259 (44 wRC+) career line with the Brewers.

I was thinking after the game, how impressive Williams was today. He threw a lot of pitches but the Reds were pretty much doing that to everybody, fouling balls off & going deep into the count. They did some things that'll make a pitcher crack, and he didn't. And considering France never faced him before AND fell behind 0-2, that was a hell of an impressive AB to end the game.

One of the worst ideas to bunt followed by a terrible bunt.

Cleanup hitter with runners in first and third and one out.

Unbelievable.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

That was the dumbest bunt I've ever seen.

Was just going to say the same thing. That idiotic move took us out of a potential big inning. I mean, Bauers of all people.

After the guy walked two batters before you lol

If I had to guess, DL Hall is probably auditioning for a spot in a 6 man rotation tonight. Especially with Tobias Myers approaching his career high in innings and a 10 game division lead.
