Have never stopped rooting against the Cubs...

That’s a given.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Updated playoff odds:

Brewers: 99.9%

Braves: 76.3%

I don't know. I'm pretty nervous. 0.1% is scary!

Royals, btw, who were supposed to be this super scary cautionary tale have now lost 6 in a row to fall out of 2nd place and 4.5 behind Cleveland.

Not even the spectre of the 1995 Angels is left to scare us at this point.

One more rant.    If we end up with like 95 wins and the best run differential in all of baseball and don’t even get a bye and maybe only play two freaking games than just shoot this playoff system into the sun

Got free tickets today courtesy of Kwik Trip, awesome game to be at. Worth checking the game thread though I couldn't believe there wasn't much about the ridiculous review at first. It was clear as day on the scoreboard that Frelick beat the throw.

Maybe the Brewers only showed favorable angles on the scoreboard, because it was pretty clear on TV that the ball hit the glove and the foot hit the base pretty much simultaneously.  It was one of those plays where whatever call on the field was made would stand.

Where the foot is when the ball hits the glove doesn't matter. It's based on when the ball enters the glove which would be before the ball hits. If Frelick's foot hit the base simultaneously with the ball hitting the glove then he was 100% out.

Not that it matters anymore but

That does matter in the wild card race.

I was at the game too, and that was my take. I think if he would have been called safe it would have stood, but per the comment above, it was incredibly close when the ball entered the glove vs when his foot hit the bag, and you don't really get an angle that shows both of those things at the same time.

Two freaking playoff games would be two more than the 78 and 79 Brewers got for winning 93 and 95 games.

They aren’t going to cut down on the number of playoff teams, shorten the season,  or have the playoffs run deep into November.

So, at some point the only solution is to win playoff games.

I think the most appropriate format is either one WC team from each league, or two WCs & have them play each other in a best-of-three. But doing things appropriately is always going to take a backseat to $$$$$$$$$$.
