PIT misses a 37-yard FG that would have put them up by 8, then proceeds to let DET march down the field to the 2 yard line.

DET then gives it back with two OPI calls that negate TDs.

Packers aren't the only team that can choke away games.

Dan Campbell goes for it on 4th and goal on their opening possession and fails. Let's see how this plays out.

Yep, turns out the Lions would've won it with a walk off field goal.

You can't say that because the game plays out completely different if they kick a field goal there.  The butterfly effect.

I can say that. People love to say that this butterfly effect is exact science when it's not. A first quarter field goal will change next to nothing if anything at all.

That really was a Packer like finish.

It changes everything, just look at field position alone.  Pittsburgh took the ball over on downs at their own 3, went 31 yards and punted.  If Detroit kicks the field goal, Pittsburgh gets the ball around the 35.  If they go 31 yards there they kick a field goal and negate Detroit's immediately.  Not to mention they likely run different plays on their own 3 vs their own 35.  Every single play call is made situationally, kicking a field goal vs going for it on 4th changes the situation of every single play after it and thus every single play call is different.

That Detroit's playoff chances are on life support (although Team Choke is very capable of giving them an opening) is right there with the Chiefs as most stunning regular season disappointment. Every week I expect them to win but they keep losing, often as favorites. The Campbell Dynasty seems to be winding down just a quickly as Jim Caldwell's. I am not sure what their season percentage is but failing on 4th down has cost them at least a couple games, probably just trying too often now when teams have adjusted to what they do on offense.

On another note, I am happy to see Rodgers likely to get one more shot in playoffs. I think he has said this is probably his last season and playing in meaningful games until the end is a good way to finish.

Has Campbell ever heard of a screen pass? They are bringing the house on Goff almost every single play and not once has he tried to slip Gibbs out on a screen.

Losing to Bosmer and his sub-10 yards passing with the season on the line is a horrific look for the Lions. This is a season of truly terrible football in the North. My goodness.

The Lions are about to return to laughingstock status pretty quickly.

Those coordinators were amount the better ones and bailed out Campbell big time.

Is that you, MLF?  Lol

Was literally pointing at all the wide open spaces even if they just slipped Gibbs into the flat on those crazy 9 men in the box blitz looks - and they never even tried it once.  Instead, run him into that brick wall over and over again.

The Lions are suddenly average, and Goff is a problem for that team because he's a distributor, not a playmaker...and he's paid like a playmaker.

As you said, Lions are probably just average and now even worse as they've mailed it in.  Brosmer had 51 yards passing, minus 48 yards in sacks, so the Vikings had 3 yards passing in this game and the Lions still lose.  That is terrible.

About a month ago I had the Lions easily walking into the playoffs and winning the division now they are easily walking out of the playoffs and finishing third and possibly fourth in the division.

Me too.

Pretty nuts that the division could be completely inverted from where it finished last year

I had to chuckle imagining Aaron Rodgers on the couch tonight. He had to be thinking, “man, I’m 42 years old, haven’t played for Green Bay in three years, and I’m in a completely different conference, but somehow, the Packers defense is still letting me down.”

Steelers turn into the Packers when it's time to play the truly important games.

It would seem so.

The Ravens beating us last night is not going to deter them from their goal to finish 9-8.
