To be fair, his fiction is less famous than his poetry.

Brian Kenny on MLB Network projected the Brewers at 81-81.  What an outrageous big city franchise bum he is.  I'll eat my Brewers cap if there that bad.

He was actually just reporting Fangraphs projections for the Brewers of 81 wins.   Fangraphs seems to never predict very many 90 plus win teams.   Brian Kenny is actually very pro Brewers

Here are my predictions for the division.

Brewers: 90-72

Cardinals: 86-76

Cubs: 84-78

Pirates: 81-81

Red: 76-86

How do we get to 90 wins?  Young talent continuing to step up.  Garrett Mitchell takes the next step.  Joey Ortiz takes the next offensive step.  Even old talent will have a say, Hoskins' bat will compensate for his glove. Starting pitching will be a weakness but not unlike last year, reasonably good.  Woody will make it all the way back and ride the roller coaster for a bit, until he really figures it out in September and the playoffs.  Our depth in the pen will be tested, moving bodies back and forth to Nashville to help combat 4-6 inning starts.  Craig Yoho will make his mark in the pen.  Team speed will be the difference maker in close games.

Kenny did say there is more parity in baseball then in football because if the KC Chiefs record translated into a baseball season the Chiefs record would be 142 and 20. LOL. 😁

So-is there anyone who wants to get THAT optimistic about the Brew Crew? I hear crickets… 😉

I'm seeing projections for the Brewers at around .500, but exceeding those projections have become a pleasnt annual tradition.

There are a lot of question marks this year in the rotation and bullpen and with the offense replacing Adames' production.

I see about 86-76 and in the playoff battle until the final week.

94-68, NL Central Champs

The organization will continue to lean on its ability to get outs with underappreciated pitching depth in front of elite defense and a sneaky good offensive roster that doesn't have to rely on power to score enough runs to consistently be winning 6 out of every 10 games.  If Yelich can stay healthy and Chourio takes the next step, there will be plenty of pop despite Adames cashing bigger paychecks out west.  If healthy, I expect a breakout year of sorts for Mitchell, too.

Until proven otherwise their model is a machine that grinds out more wins than the March sum of its parts always projects.

Almost zero chance of the Cards being 10 games over. The cupboard is pretty bare over there.

I concur. The Cardinals will play in front of a lot of empty seats this season.

Since we are 1/2 of the way through the season, I decided to hunt down this topic to see how all of us did with preseason predictions.

After 81 games … we are on pace to finish 90-72.

What was your original prediction?

Would you like to make a mid-year adjustment?

85-77. The injury bug bites their pitching staff yet again. Woodruff won’t it make it to August. Chourio .280/.337/.498. Cubs win the division in a close 3 team race with 90 wins and the Reds with 84.

I’m sticking with my original prediction, sorry.

Anyone else notice all of the Cubs fans in Busch Stadium this week?

I finally found my prediction (toward the bottom of page 1 in this thread). I had Milwaukee at 90-72 & NL Central division winners. So, I’m on pace record wise, but I did not expect the Cubs to improve so much. Should be a fun 2nd half.

I still don’t want the Brewers to trade away quality prospects for a short-term bat. I hope we roll with the team we have, replace Monasterio & Cameron with ??? & Perkins, hope for improvement from some of our regulars, benefit from starting pitching depth, & squeak out a division championship.

I’m not sure this is the year fro a World Series Championship (or appearance), but I’m happy to be wrong!

I picked 84 wins.  Didn't think the starting staff would do the job.  I was kind of proven right in that they acquired Quintana and Priester and now Miz to get the job done, after my March post.

84 is still within the range of possibilities, but I hope it is on the very low end of the range now.  If you keep Yelich healthy and hitting, we will be alright.
