Little did I know that a kid in the suburb next door would end up a Brewer star. Don't live in MN anymore, but we did when he was growing up apparently. Hard not to cheer for the guy I call "Ice".

I had no idea that we hadn't had a female ump in MLB yet. There is no reason one gender should be better at this than the other. I know there are female NBA refs and that's a hell of a lot more physically demanding than MLB.

I am unfamiliar with the Jays. Are they like us just a good mix of prospects and some of their bigger hitters having good seasons? Vlad Jr. and Bichette still mashing? That's another sleeper team over there that's good in the AL no one talks about.

Maybe like a rich-man's version of the Brewers? In nearly all of the same ratings that the Brewers have been great at this season, the Jays are right there with them, including bowing down to the Yankees at the beginning of the season, and ripping off impressive months afterwards.

It’s mostly vets having good seasons. Deep lineup and very good defensive team. Pitching staff is solid but not spectacular

Getting WAAYYY ahead of things, but a MIL / TOR or MIL / DET would be nice, especially the latter. A couple of small market, blue collar cities in the WS would be a giant middle finger to MLB

Looks like Mariano Rivera won't be replacing Devin as Yankees closer.

Saw that, Rivera tears Achilles during alumni game. I’d feel bad if Prince tore an ACL during our home run derby.

I hate that AI stuff.

Well, his last 6.2 innings has given up 8 earned runs of his own and that is not even counting the runners on base form the previous pitcher he relieved. So he has been quite dreadful.

How bad Devin has been is a separate issue from posting a deep fake of a bunch of things Boone never said. It’s possible to use credible sources, such as the stats you quoted, without leaning into the misinformation that these deep fakes promote. I cannot state how much I hate it.

How do I know what is fake or real? It was even in our last 2 presidential elections and people believed all that crap also. Tell me the secret of how to know? I don't.

It came from a site called Dangerous AI. Did any news source pick up the story?IMG_1879.jpeg.0cde547232fe241cdddd897fd925061e.jpeg

Dang, I didn't even notice that, maybe I have just have disliked Devin so much since September 2021 when he fractured his throwing hand after punching a wall during the win celebration of the NL Central division.

It was just a joke, guys. Lighten up.

Nah. I want the fake stuff to stop. And we were having a perfectly reasonable discussion, no need for you to insert yourself

Watching Cubs at STL on ESPN and Cards Oli Marmol just accused Cubs 3rd base coach of drifting out of the coaching box and observing signs from the opposing pitcher/catcher and relaying the information to batters.  He said on his 6th inning TV interview, "If there going to do that it's going to have to be from inside the 3rd base coaching box."

What I don't understand is if there using PItchCom how can you steal signs?

I was reading one of those MLB power rankings articles and I came across this - the Phillies were not in first place after losing a game last Saturday - they now have a 5 1/2 game lead.

There are a number of ways, including the mouth and teeth not syncing with the voice perfectly, facial expressions and body movements not really fitting what he's saying, cadence being off, inflection and pauses not quite right, and more, but in this case, it's pretty obvious that a manager wouldn't say those things.

Another thing to look for is hands/fingers. AI seems to have trouble with those and often you'll see an extra finger or something obvious if you look closely.

These AI videos are getting increasingly good, wild that this is a topic actually but it's a fair one.
