Well Shuckers just need a few plays to get back into it and they do. Lara walks, Warren walks, and Rodriguez doubles to right, but comes up hobbling and is in a lot of pain with his left leg calf or hamstring? He's hurt.

Tie game but another player hurt running to second tonghit.

Can we just have all walks or HR tonight, no more running to second.

Sitting 4 big bats initially (Anderson, Ortuno, K. Garcia, Fielder) against a 6-3 Dodgers team. Hmmm.

Hope Mercado has a solid outing. Glad to “see” Black in the outfield.

Ramon Rodriguez doubled off the wall to tie the game. Couldn’t see what happened off camera but it looks like a calf / achillies. Gutted it out and hopped into second almost 3/4 of the way.

Oh my they are getting a cart to get Rodriguez off the field. This could be a serious injury for him. Hope for the best. He had been a big contributor in the hot streak the past few weeks, and a very solid back up catcher. Again hope for the best.

Isn’t there a universal rule against losing 2 catchers on the same day? C’mon. David Garcia is already out.

I guess we’ve got Quero coming up to AA or AAA. And I guess we could promote Dinges to High-A and Matt Wood to AA. We’ll see.

After winning the first game of today’s doubleheader, High-A Wisconsin hands the ball to 20-year old LHP Anthony Flores (6.65 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, 9.6 K/9 in 21.2 IP) for Game 2. LF Luiyin Alastre and C Blayberg Diaz also enter the lineup, as Hall and Guilarte take a breather.

Bruce Zimmermann obviously ran out of gas at 76 pitches, giving up hard hit balls to the next 4 hitters (including a 2-run homer for Luken Baker).

Sounds trail 7-1 thru 5 innings.

I liked it much better yesterday when the affiliates won every game. Tonight, the Brewers play and everything goes to heck. Go figger, eh? EHHHHHHHH?

Perfect BA, apparently Ethan Dorchies has seen a solid velo bump. Up from sitting 91 to sitting 95 mph with impressive horizontal movement on his fastball

Also mention for Jose Anderson and has strike zone recognition plus the pull side lift he generates

Not a huge deal but I have it on good authority that Dorchies has *touched* 95 but sitting more 92-93 so far this year. Think BA just worded it incorrectly.

Dodgers ACL team has terrible gameday updates.

Yeah, radio silence on the feed for long stretches, then there’ll be a bunch of updates.

Reminds of that Mitch Hedberg joke about how he likes to pinch off the microphone cord like a garden hose & when he lets it go the jokes come out all at once.

Notables so far include…three Crew errors…Corobo subbed out after a couple innings…Quintana and manager Rafael Neda both ejected…trailing 5-2 top five, bases loaded one out.

If every other team in the org has to lose for Wisco to win one (maybe two) games, well that would be some kinda voodoo that I don’t wanna mess with.

Just like last night with Hernandez and Rivera giving the Muddies 12 innings of quality starts.

Tonight Hardin goes 7 shutout and Flores is also through 5 innings. And only 63 pitches.  Very solid from the starters the past two doubleheader nights for Wisconsin and Carolina.

Nice to see Jaron DeBerry continue to be lights out at Carolina.  He was the third round pick last year so he’s got a pretty good pedigree.  8.2 innings on the year with only one ER.

Same thing with Tyson Hardin who was an 11th or 12th rounder from Mississippi State.  Good production at Wisconsin.

Complex Crew has come back to take the lead 7-5 top eight highlighted by a Gery Holguin home run and doubles from Handelfry Encarnacion & Pedro Ibarguen.

Jose Meneses threw three scoreless relief frames with 1 BB | 3 K while Ismael Yanez went four up three down (1 HBP | 3 K) in the seventh.

Things didn’t go quite so smoothly for Yanez in the eighth as he surrendered a pair of runs to tie the game back up.

AZ Brew took the lead back top of nine with a two base E5 and Engel Paulino single.

Cesar Espinal on to close it out and he goes four up three down (1 H | 2 K) to pick up the save.

3 wins, 3 losses and 3 catchers exiting early (Seigler, Ramon Rodriguez, Corobo).

Glad Wisconsin got 2 much-needed wins and the ACL Crew pulled it out.

The MILB box scores suggest our teams all really battle to the end. Can't say the same for that MLB box score.

Hope Brewers somehow find their mojo and our MILB catchers all recover quickly.

26-year-old Biloxi catcher Ramon Rodriguez had been off to a blistering start over his first 21 games and 81 plate appearances - .359/.457/.484, including a double, single and 3 RBI Friday night.

Not easy to watch. For those of you with an MiLB.TV full subscription allowing for the viewing of archived games, go here, and then to the 02:40:10 hour/minute mark, where Rodriguez' at-bat begins, runners on 1st and 2nd, two outs. Rodriguez performs his routine of making the sign of the cross as his at-bat begins. Rodriguez blasts the 1-1 pitch off the base of the wall in right and two runs score, but the camera catches Rodriguez stumbling badly halfway between 1st and 2nd base, managing somehow to reach the bag safely as the throw came into home.

From there, Rodriguez is clearly in severe pain and grabbing at the back of his left calf. Obviously much too early to speculate as to the formal diagnosis of a major calf injury or even an Achilles injury. The camera stays with Rodriguez until the 02:42:20 mark before the camera crew focuses on crowd shots and then cuts away. The Montgomery announcer inexplicably refers to Rodriguez' hamstring more than once, when this is clearly a lower leg injury.

The broadcast returns at the 02:46:30 hour/minute mark, showing Rodriguez on the back of the cart that takes him off the field. He is assisted off the cart by two trainers and is able to allow his right leg to hop off as his left leg doesn't touch the ground at all.

Rodriguez' defense and leadership skills are top-notch. Javik Blake interviewed him on April 30th, a fine young family man (father of three), and that interview is worth a re-visit by you today.

Former Yankees 1st round pick (26th overall) Anthony Seigler signed with Milwaukee as a minor league free agent in November. He'll turn 26 years old in June. Seigler, an ambidextrous thrower by the way, had provided Nashville major utility prowess, splitting time evenly behind the plate and at second base in 2025. Also, he has been raking:

And in an important development with potential big-league implications Friday night's pre-game news gave us this:

Then, in remarkably coincidental fashion reaching second base on a hustle double (see the Ramon Rodriguez post just above), Seigler had to remove himself from the Sounds' game in Memphis. This also was not pretty - well, it actually was pretty, up to a point.

For those of you with a full MiLB.TV subscription allowing for the viewing of archived games (an MLB.TV subscription provides live viewing only), here's your game link.

At the 01:45:20 hour/minute mark, Seigler lines a 2-2 pitch into left-center, not particularly deep, the ball kind of clangs after a hop off the left-fielder's glove, bouncing away for a moment, and in an incredibly exciting play - the Memphis announcer was effusive in praise - Seigler and his flowing locks performs an amazing hands-first dive and slide around the tag at second base. Seigler pumps his left hand in excitement after seeing the umpire's safe call. It was one of the most exhilarating plays I've seen on any level this season.

But within seconds, Seigler stands up and is waving for the trainer's assistance. His face is clearly writhing in pain. As Seigler walks off the field to leave the game, his right shoulder is drooping (separation?), and with his healthy left arm, he angrily fires his batting glove into the dugout, seemingly realizing the seriousness of his injury, though it's clearly unfair to speculate fully at this time. The Memphis announcer mentioned a possible wrist injury, though that didn't appear to be the case, as Seigler was not holding his wrist at all.

Voice of the Sounds Jeff Hem spoke with Seigler in an interesting interview April 11th.

What a frustratingly brutal set of events for Rodriguez and Seigler on this night.

I’d be flabbergasted if it’s a shoulder or wrist thing. You could see his right pinky bend way to the side when he was sliding into 2B. A broken/dislocated finger would fit the reaction so much more than a shoulder/wrist injury because with a shoulder/wrist injury there likely would have been so much pain that he wouldn’t have celebrated before calling for the trainer.
