Ugh, Joey. The one thing you couldn’t do and you took one pitch to do it.

Why would you swing when the pitcher just walked 2 in a row??  Drives me crazy...

Another stellar at bat for our lackluster shortstop.

Maybe you've missed what he's been doing the last month.

Promise you I haven’t. Still rocking an OPS around .550 even with the last month. He’s not been good at all

Just absolutely terrible execution by the Brewers this inning. Terrible AB by Ortiz followed by Peralta just straight donating a run by walking Soto and then forgetting about him.

Joey with the bases loaded... can't get it done again.

The weak link.

Guy walks the bases loaded so what does your worst hitter do? Swings first pitch. Bench the guy. Where is Murphy discipline? Come on.

Why would you bench a guy hitting almost .350 the past two weeks?

Because he just committed a sin that my little league kids would not do. If he was Tony Gwynn fine. He's hitting 208. Wouldn't be surprised to see Holmes go 7 now.

His glove is keeping him in the lineup.

Not even. 748 OPS in June and 930 in the past 10 games. He has been decent. That was just an awful play by the guy. It happens

Who cares what the season total is? His OPS last 4 weeks is .725, last 2 weeks is .930.
930!

I realize this team has been playing better lately but I still see them being short 2 or 3 bats to be considered a serious playoff threat.

It sucks, but I’d be more upset if it was from chasing a wild pitch and doing that.

He got a pitch to hit. Just didn’t do anything with it.

Because the majority of the season he was one of the worst qualified hitters in baseball and that at bat was atrocious. I care. Move on. Don’t comment on my post then. Rather bizarre argument. Average OPS for starting shortstops last year was around .740, Joey is currently sitting nearly .200 points below that. I understand infield bats at the higher levels haven’t quite emerged and his glove has been solid at short, but wooooof.

So Murphy should just bench guys after making one mistake? That's not a good way of managing a baseball team.

Despite a few decent weeks the left side of the Brewers infield just isn't nearly good enough.

I don't think it's bizarre to point out that he's recently been very good. We all agree he was atrocious earlier in the year. It's not necessarily relevant to prediction of future results. But obviously it's also not fair to assume that he'll continue to rake.

What we can say is that he has the capability to hit very well and he's showing that lately, so just saying "Ortiz sucks!" is overly simplistic and not acknowledging how good he has been.

I’m leaving this discussion alone from here on out but I share the sentiment. I’m more encouraged by Durbin being a great utility bat if anything.
