The Brew Crew Blue just put up a game-tying five spot in the bottom of the 7th. 6-6 and they are up to the plate again in the bottom of the 8th. Four of the runs came with two outs.

Antunez’s flirtation with respectability keeps getting racier.

A little thing I noticed: Moises Polanco, who has added some power and a few walks and strikeouts his second time through the DSL, has more than doubled the number of pitches he’s seeing per plate appearance, from just over two to 4.1. His BABIP is up from .315 to .363. We usually chalk that up to random fluctuation, but I wonder if his greater patience might be yielding better quality of contact. He’s also scoring and stealing less while driving in a lot more runs. Seems like they may be consciously changing his role.

Another repeater, Juan Martinez, shows a more dramatic version of a similar story. Pitches per plate appearance up from about 1.8 to four. Power way up, steals up, walks up, strikeouts down. Minimal increase in BABIP. Just better across the board.

I’m sure all this stuff is very common in DSL repeaters, but I just happened to look at it today, and it’s kind of interesting.

I'd warn to not trust any pitch data you see in the DSL unless you're getting it from a source that has access to pitch level data. If you follow a DSL game on gameday those numbers are just not what's actually happening. Unless there's a wild pitch, SB, or CS, you're typically going to see an in play AB is 1 pitch, a strikeout is 3 pitches, and a BB is 4 pitches.

Edit: I'll add that the 2025 numbers might be legit as those numbers seem much more realistic.

Like for an example I'll use Juan Martinez in 2024.

195 PA, 20 BB, 23 SO, and according to MiLB.com only 1.785 pitches per PA for 348 pitches faced. Assuming every walk was 4 pitches and every strikeout was 3 pitches that already puts you at 149 pitches. That would mean in his other 152 PA he faced 199 pitches.

After pitching a clean 9th to get to extras, Lenin Mendez gave up a base-advancing sac fly in the 10th. A run-scoring double. Then struck out a batter for his second out. The Blue trailed 7-6 at that point. He would not finish the inning. WP, BB, BB, PB, BB, BB, HB. 10-6 deficit. Mendez is subbed out. The Blue lose 10-7. A Sharlisson De La Rosa double scored Polanco (Manfred's Man) but that was all She wrote. Valiant effort. In the end, the Blue were 'DSL'd' in Extras.

Brewers 'DSL Player of the Day' award definitely goes to 1B Matthew Moses through 3 AB (likely will bat at least one more time - currently in the top of the 7th of a 9-inning tilt). 3-for-3, 2 R, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 1 2B, 1 HR. Brewers Gold lead 7-4 headed to the Reds half of the 7th.

Done just poked the go-ahead HR in the bottom of the 6th of a 7-inning affair. This was Done's third long ball of his summer. DSL Brewers Blue lead Game 2 6-5. They are still batting in the same sixth frame.

1B Sharlisson De La Rosa once again hit a late run-scoring double for the second consecutive game vs the DSL Padres Gold. This was an insurance-adding two-runs after Done's go ahead solo jack in the sixth. Antunez and Polanco had each walked and De La Rossa knocked them home though he was thrown out trying to advance to 3B during/after the throw home. DSL Brewer Blue split their double-header vs the Padres Gold winning Game 2 8-5 in a scheduled 7-Inning affair. They move back to five games over 0.500 at 20-15 overall. RHP Jhosep Ospino (who else, really) pitched the scoreless 7th for the Save - 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K. Ospino picked up his 2nd Save of his season. He now has 25 K over 18 2/3 IP and a zesty 0.86 WHIP. Extremely impressive season for the second year Brewers DSL'er.

Impressive 18-year old RHP Ethan Dorchies (1.66 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 11.6 K/9 in 43.1 ACL/Low-A IP) starts for the Low-A Mudcats as they begin their home series against White Sox affiliate Kannapolis. 18-year old CF Braylon Payne has a 1.237 OPS during his 13-game on-base streak (57 PAs).

AAA Nashville host White Sox affiliate Charlotte this week, with organizational MILB innings leader LHP Bruce Zimmermann (4.35 ERA in 89 IP) making his first appearance since opting out and re-signing. The team are 2nd in the 20-team International League in stolen bases, led by 2B Ray Delgado (28) and RF Jared Oliva (25).

AA Biloxi welcome Angels’ affiliate Rocket City to town this week, with RHP Alexander Cornielle (3.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 79.2 IP) getting the first crack at carving them up. Clutch RF Garrett Spain is hitting just .209 with a .637 OPS for Biloxi, but is 2nd on the team in RBIs (43).

LHP Sam Garcia (6.10 ERA in High-A after a 2.08 ERA in Low-A) and High-A Wisconsin aim to get back on track at Quad Cities this week. The race for the team’s home run lead between SS Eduardo Garcia (13), DH Hedbert Perez (12) and 2B Jadher Areinamo (11) is heating up.

I have the In-Laws in town this week. Time to go to a birthday dinner before I return home to review the evening's festivities. Eight game late night madness on my 'To Do' list. Yay? Hopefully the affiliates show out and give me some eye candy.

RHP Ethan Dorchies. 4.0 IP, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 H, 0 R. Heck of a Start. He reverses course as RHP Jayden Dubanewicz piggy backs. After a line out, Jose Anderson misplays a fly ball in RF. The batter advances to 2B. And the 'No No' immediately ends with a single. Runners on the corners. One down. Muddies cling to a 1-0 lead. Eeeek.

Welp I'm having issues with my wifi, so I am watching  gameday  live updates only, but would have been a nice game to watch in Zebulon.  Dorchies with a great start as @Joseph Zarr alluded to.

Then the top of the line up with 2 separate 2-run innings so far. Adamczewski and Made each 2-3 with a BB.

Pena with 2 RBI. And Anderson 2-3 as well. Only Bitonti among the top 6 hasn't gotten on. And DiTuri is 0-3 with 3K. Yikes.

Dubanewicz somehow through 4 IP in 53 pitches despite 7 hits allowed (all singles). 5-2 Muddies in the bottom of 8th. And Bitonti just K'd. Anderson with another single, now 3-4 with the RBI.  It's 6-2

I very happily imagine a world where Adamczewski was healthy the entire first half, helped secure the Muddies first half playoff berth, and is already mashing at High-A Wisconsin. This is a beautiful world.

Yes sir.

And I would imagine that in that world Jadher is up in AA with Lara and Pratt to form a young formidable middle defense.

Gonna one of those nights for Alexander Cornielle.  2 IP, but already at 36 pitches. No hits, 1 walk and 4 K. Looking good, but so inefficient, may not go more than 4-5 IP which has been an Achilles heel for him (pitch count)

And Anfernny Reyes closes the door. Gave up a walk, but gets the last out swinging. Mudcats win, and hope to get hot for the second half division title.

Shuckers get a run in, and Lara sac fly gets another in. Early 2-0. I will come back later to check on Cornielle.

T-Rats doing T-Rats things (0-4 with RISP). Garcia has kept the River Bandit bats quiet through 3, but it's 0-0 despite 3 hits and 4 walks for Wisconsin.
