No but there was a similar reaction to when the Brewers signed Perkins.  It was ruled a dumpster fire pickup for both players in their respective off seasons.

Sometimes you just get lucky or the scouting department actually knows what they are looking for and have found it in both Collins and Perkins.  Though they have struck out on a few others.

I really didn't know anything about him but I am impressed with his mechanics. 

Will never be a 30 home run guy but is a really solid ball player otherwise.

I pride myself on knowing Brewers prospects, and across MLB as well... or ones that could/should be impact players. I just never recalled hearing about him - absolutely not on the level he has been. Great scouting again.
