Adames will want to bomb us!

BUT

He is no Gorman Thomas!

Jose will win the day

AND

make Willy look silly!

Whisenhunt would be wise to call in sick and go hunt!

Don’t think it will happen, but I’ll be really disappointed with Brewer fans if Adames gets booed tonight.

Booo!

He left us for an inferior team ... he likes money more than success and loyalty as best as I can tell -- just like way too many guys, unfortunately.

How many extra millions upon the millions you already have is necessary to leave family/friends?

I want my athletes to sacrifice millions upon millions of dollars in earnings in their short career window for some mythical concept of "loyalty."

So let's not cheer for a guy that is not loyal, right?

So our organization should have been loyal to Adames by offering him the same contract that another team did to keep him in his family, right? Or does it not work the other way around?

It doesn't work the other way around for the obvious reason that the MLB payroll structure is rigged to give advantage to larger markets!

You leave your family/friends because they are poorer despite the fact you are a multi-millionaire amongst your family/friends who are paying you?

So you think the Brewers couldn’t have afforded to pay Adames? Really?

Also, at the end of the day, they are humans making a living professionally, not gladiators defending their homeland.

The only confirmed offer that we know that the Brewers made was 1 year, $21.05M. He got 7 years, $182M from the Giants.

Booing or criticizing a guy that his “loyalty” for his job wasn’t worth more than $161 million dollars is absolutely wild.

He already was making a wildly great living with the Brewers!

You are shooting yourself in the foot.  Adames left for extra money, though he was already set for life.  He had no loyalty to the Brewers, to Milwaukee, to Brewers fans, period.

Don't let his smile fool you.

Why only focus on the player's finances? What about the owners? Are they showing loyalty to the team or to the game when they pinch pennies and collude to keep salaries around the league artificially low? Adames had to make his own decisions, but had he chosen to give the Brewers a major home team discount, he would be doing a huge disservice to his fellow players by accepting a sub market contract that would invariably be used by other owners to their own advantage. I was happy for Adames that he got his--he earned every penny of it--and am quite confident most Brewer fans will give him a warm welcome tonight.

Don’t know what else to say, your excuses of team owners, and expectations of player loyalty over anything else to a professional baseball organization just because a player already has made millions aren’t rooted in any sort of reality, and there’s really no purpose in debating with that.

If you feel the need to boo every player who leaves the Brewers over it, you do you, I guess.

What about the disadvantaged owner, Mark Attanasio, in a rigged league that allows extraordinary fluctuations in revenue streams to teams based solely on market size?

The real problem is the MLB payroll structure -- thank you, MLB and the players union!

Willy is in the players union ... we need players and fans and owners to say no more to this inequitable/rigged league!

Look at the NFL -- they are NOT rigged!

Nothing left in the piggy bank of the poor billionaires to afford him, apparently.

Are you unable to see the advantage of the bigger markets here or what?!?!?!

You want Mark Attanasio to lose money every year to have the payroll of the big market teams?

So because “disadvantaged” owner Mark Attanasio can’t afford the free agent price tag of *every*  Brewer player with an expiring contract, (he can absolutely afford to be “loyal” to Adames in a vacuum), what should happen is that all Brewer players that we want to keep should show their loyalty to the Brewers by taking a massive haircut in pay relative to what their peers around the league make.

Got it.

All I can say is...in the Month of August, Willy Adames is 9 for 70 which is a .128 ave.  If he is going to break out of it I hope he waits at least 3 more games when they play the Cubs in SF.

I totally understand the Brewers letting Adames walk. I think all parties understood the circumstances, even though the parting was hard. I think the Brewers have been shown correct in their thinking/decision. I understand why they need to pick and choose their spots.

But man, Adames was a great Brewer. He did a lot for us, gave us a lot of great memories and great play. He was clearly a joy in the clubhouse. Then his contract expired and he went elsewhere. It’s business. It happens. Now he has enough money to take care of his family for generations. For goodness sake, I can’t understand why anyone would feel anything but happiness for him. It’s just baseball.

I’m one of MA’s biggest defenders, but not cheering Adames would be the most ridiculous thing ever. His finances pale in comparison to MA’s, and he’s entitled to everything he got from San Fran. Just wasn’t in the Brewers’ interest to give it to him. That’s the business. He gave everything he had to this city, and should be paid in kind by the fans.

Absolutely. And it doesn’t mean that I begrudge MA for not retaining him.

Yes, Adames never had a bad day with is personality, he was a great guy inside the clubhouse and outside. Brewer history is known for that with 99% of there players. Also clutch winning HR's I remember.

For now, unfortunately!

But, somebody (just one player--I was hoping Willy would be that guy) along with owners and fans has to say to the MLB and player's union, "No more" to this unfair system of revenue/economics in the MLB!

As it is now, the Brewers and other small market teams have to defy everything to be competitive in the MLB!

It is so unfair compared to the NFL!

If little ole' Green Bay had to operate in the NFL with the MLB's rules currently, the Packers would be fortunate to win more than 4 games per season.  The big market teams would swallow up that little market so easily.
