I totally understand the Brewers letting Adames walk. I think all parties understood the circumstances, even though the parting was hard. I think the Brewers have been shown correct in their thinking/decision. I understand why they need to pick and choose their spots.

But man, Adames was a great Brewer. He did a lot for us, gave us a lot of great memories and great play. Then his contract expired and he went elsewhere. It’s business. It happens. Now he has enough money to take care of his family for generations. For goodness sake, I can’t understand why anyone would feel anything but happiness for him. It’s just baseball.

Sure, it's great for him, BUT not great for the fans and the sport league!

I’m one of MA’s biggest defenders, but not cheering Adames would be the most ridiculous thing ever.

How about a cheer for the good ole' times and a boo for leaving us!

The Brewers didn't want Adames. They offered the QO to get the draft pick, not to keep him. They wanted no part of his aging years. Given that the Brewers gave up on him, you still gonna be there tonight and boo him?

Offering him one year can be viewed as an insult, at least non-competitive, and obviously way below market value. If my company offered me well-below market value to stay, I would see the writing on the wall and leave as well. I would go where I was wanted.

Do you think the Brewers would be better with Adames on the team?

Just don't boo him at all because were all in good spirits. A family reunion of sorts.

Big difference here is that you are living from paycheck to paycheck most likely ... Willy is a multi-millionaire regardless of what team he is playing for and is set for life.

From that position of financial comfort, how about making a stand against the rigged league and staying with your friends/family?

This part of the equation is being overlooked.  Did the Brewers make the right decision to let him walk and his performance indicates that might be true.

We could not have asked or expected more from Adames. He is among the most likeable people in baseball. On field, he is a good player occasionally confused for a great player. Zero time All Star who will make $182 million in his thirties.

It is difficult to imagine Milwaukee being meaningfully better in 2025 with Adames. He is 1.2 wins (WAR) better than Ortiz at 18x the cost.

99% of Brewers fans will give a warm welcome for Adames this week (as long as he doesn’t cause the Giants to win the series).

The players union would likely be very upset if Adames took 80% less guaranteed money to stay in Milwaukee. The players union is at least 49% of the ‘rigged system’

That's why I said, "make a stand."

I don't care how much money I have, if someone offered me several million more than I'm making now, I and taking it and not really thinking all that long about it.

Again, for a team that didn't really want me? No, I'm not making a stand.

When I go back to Milwaukee, I get booed wherever I go because I left my friends and family to go to college and then elsewhere for a job.

I'm already bracing for the rough reception I'm going to receive when I take my daughter to Madison next week. Disloyal to the state that conceived me.

The Giants are a respectable 10th in runs allowed, but 25th in runs scored. They have lost their last 3 and 10 of their last 12. They would have been in the thick of the WC race if they could have done anything in this stretch - as it is, they're 6.5 games back, and you have to think that all hope has been dashed.

Got to kick'em while they're down. The game tonight is sneaky important to the series because they have their #1 and #2 SPs going the next two days (and we might have a spot starter on Sunday).

Also, taking a personal 80% paycut to stay with your home team is not the stand against the big man that he is portraying in these posts.

It would also seriously piss off his peers, particularly other middle infielders.

That's a shame in Willy's case ... it really is -- he's already a multimillionaire ... think beyond the wallet for a moment and think about what's really important in the big picture.

21 million dollars for 6-7 months work?  I think they might want me!  Good grief!

Apples and oranges ... 🫡

You are operating out of necessity.  Willy is not.

WILLY is set for life, if he makes the right financial decisions.

What if he has cousins and wants to pay for all their education?

What if he has people back home in the DR that he wants to help?

What if he has several charitable organizations that he wants to make a significant difference for?

What if he has a sustainable plan to ensure that not just he is set for life, but numerous future generations of his family?

Most importantly, who are you to tell him that his loyalty to a baseball team should be more important to him than any of those things?

To say Adames could make whatever decision he wanted, regardless of financial outcome is probably inaccurate. I would not want to cross one of the most powerful employee unions in the country.
