Game 2: Commanders at Packers - Thursday, Sept 11 7:15 PM

Posted

Great kickoff to the season by whooping it up on last year's 15-1 Lions.  But no time to rest on our laurels as there is a quick turnaround this week with the Commanders coming into town on Thursday.  At least we have it as a home game.

Last year's surprise playoff team won convincingly in their first game... but only against the lowly Giants.

The availability of Zach Tom will be a key item to watch this week. Hopefully, he was held out as a precaution Sunday as we had a good lead when he got hurt.  He was riding the bike on the sidelines, so that would indicate nothing too serious.

Would be nice to have Hobbs back this game.  Bo Melton also left the last game with a shoulder injury.

Jayden Daniels will be much harder to contain than Jared Goff, but he does take sacks. I'm sure Cooper and/or Walker will be spying on him most of the game.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

September nfl games are always unpredictable....thursday night September games are even more of a crapshoot.  Glad this is a home game, and ill be happiest with a W but also just thrilled if the Packers get out of thursday with no significant injuries.

Both Tom and Banks potentially out but they have Kennard and Morgan graded out well on Sunday. Wash has to travel on short week and we don't, this seems like game we should win to me too.

I'm not a believer in the Commanders. Packers take it somewhat comfortably.

Normally a QB that can run (i.e. more than scramble) kills us, but I like Hafley's defense with Walker+Cooper here.  I don't think Jayden is going to have nearly as much room to run.  Still a good and accurate passer, but if you take away the run game, that tightens those passing windows.

I think it is safe to assume Jayden Daniels has some year 2 growing pains a la CJ Stroud (and Love) last year after impressive initial campaigns. It’s still early, and conditioning and injury volume is not ideal for us at the moment, so a loss wouldn’t stun me. But the Packers should be better than Washington, and should win.

If you don't have Prime and can wait until tomorrow to watch the game, it is being rebroadcast on the NFL Network at 11:15pm Central.

Isn’t the game being shown on regular television in local markets?

Per Packers.com:

The game will be broadcast across the country on Amazon Prime Video. If you live in the Green Bay market, it will also air on WGBA-TV, and if you live in the Milwaukee market, it will be shown on WITI-TV.

Hope the shoulder injury for Reed isn't that bad.

Unfortunate, but I liked the decision to go for it.

After the official stood there for so long I thought they would take the time out. Time for the defense to do their thing

Come on he tackled him twice and they pick up the flag?

That looks like a broken collarbone. I hope I’m wrong.

Yeah, based on what we've seen. That could also be a shoulder injury. A dislocated shoulder... but probably collarbone.

So... 2 months and then his foot heals I guess. I don't know... Belton needs some help.

I also don't like Golden returning punts. Not because of that play, but we're going to need him too much.

I like the commanders game plan vs kraft.  Completely ignore him.
