Disappointing loss any way you slice it. Had numerous opportunities and couldn’t capitalize. Gave the game back that we got on the Cubs yesterday and finally had a chance to build some breathing room between us and Philly and could not do it.

While they’re not in a terrible way or anything, they just can’t really seem to start building any momentum again.

I am kinda fine with them farting around a bit for another week and a half. Then come out of it when it really starts to matter.

I've said it before I'll say again how do you build rythem when it's a new cast of characters every night hitting in different spots every day?

At this point I trust Murphy. I think (hope) it's all strategic.

I'd prefer #1 but #2 is not that big of a deal. The division is what you need and that's a formality at this point. We're getting to close to where Philly is running out of time too though. They're going out West now for 6 games, 3 with LAD who has every reason to win those games. I think Philadelphia has at least 4 losses in them. In that scenario, a .500 finish lets us hold the pole position.

I would say I'm more interested in how we look the last few days of the season, but given that we will have a big layoff anyway, I'm not even sure that matters.

I guess. There’s nothing guaranteeing that we’re going to be able to just flip a switch in a couple weeks.

Quintana gave up a couple ambush hits in the 2nd, then started to nibble around the plate a little & immediately STL went into patient mode, as if they knew he was suddenly going to start nibbling. Really perfect timing, and it cost him.

Outside of the Payamps adventure after 2 outs/w no one on the guys who followed Quintana looked very good.

Rotten luck on the K by Monasterio after the foul off the knob. That was key. As was the K by Durbin w/two on. Just a nice changeup, low but over the plate.
