Wow. Yeah. Let’s hope he takes that gamer mentality and uses the chip on his shoulder to force his way into the top 10 prospects discussion.  Man you can imagine an infield with the elite prospects with like Turang, Pratt, Made, Peña, and then the infield of just all out gamers with Adams, Dickinson, Wilken, Durbin, and then those with a little of both Adamczewski, Fischer. Depth in the dirt.

Man I’m “jazzed as hell” that both Baseball America and now Pipeline have Fischer as the number one 3b prospect!

I know there are several guys who are currently listed as shortstops but actually probably should be listed as 3rd basemen or at 2nd, but still. I am excited about this guy! And I absolutely think he is going to stick at 3rd.

BA came out with their top 100… Made doing the heavy lifting with Pena falling to the late 40s.

Not a good showing for us (4 in the top 100, no mentions in ‘2026 risers’ or ‘just missed’).

I feel like 2026 is going to be a kind of put up or shut up season for Pratt. If he doesn't show improved bat speed and EV then I think he's going to drop closer to the bottom of the Top 100 list. They had an article showing 90th EV for the Top 100 prospects and Pratt's 101.2 was 3rd lowest.

Hard to disagree with this. You can only lean on the "Southern League has low OPS across the board - it's a pitcher's League!" argument for so long. Under the hood looks leave some serious questions headed into 2026. Big year for Pratt.

Pratt just seems like a guy that is willing to put in the work to get it done. I don't think he will be a star but I think he will be a solid MLB player.

Obviously every prospect has their own trajectory, but Turang hit for a 100 wRC+ and 0.58 BB/K as a 21 year old in the Southern League (not sure what kind of minor league batted ball data there is from 2021), then a 110 wRC+ over parts of three seasons (842 PA) at AAA, then another 1067 PA in MLB of 77 wRC+ before finally breaking out last year at Age 25.

Pratt had a 107 wRC+ and 0.84 BB/K as a 20 year old in the Southern League, so slightly better production at a younger age than Brice. I think Cooper's shortstop defense & age (Moises Ballesteros and Justin Crawford were the only two players to crack 500 PA at AAA last year in their age 21 season) gives him plenty of runway to make improvements on the hitting side.

I've actually compared Pratt's trajectory to Turang before. Turang on the minor league side really didn't see that tick up in power until the second half of his Age 22 season in AAA. Post July 1st he slashed .296/.390/.484 for a 136 wRC+ and had 10 of his 13 HR. That second half of the season was a big reason why I thought he had more offensive upside when he debuted than most prospect people thought. I had pretty much given up on it translating heading into the 2025 season.

This is part of the reason why I think Pratt will drop towards the bottom of the Top 100 if he doesn't see that uptick in bat speed and power this season. Turang was a fringe Top 100 guy most of his prospect career. Occassionally would make it into a list. I think Pratt's frame is what's giving him some leeway in the rankings because people are still projecting him to tap into more power.

Turang's power improved seemed to coincide with putting on a lot of muscle. Pratt seems pretty well built already so I'm not sure if he will have that in him.

Also very fair. So much fair in this conversation. Someone break a rule...somewhere! Let's get some overreactions!

I just always remind myself that Pratt’s numbers probably would have looked awesome if he was at least half the year in A+ like he could have (should have?) been. A lot of times when young guys are in the high minors the game might be moving so fast that getting to their A swing and stuff like that may be low on the priority list. But then, you look at his strikeout/walk ratio, for a 20 year old!

I have a feeling if he repeated AA with everything moving slower he would probably juice some balls big time.

Either way, a great defensive shortstop with a good eye who draws walks and good bat to ball skills, with good speed and savvy…..is a good player. If, perhaps, a little bit of a throwback player.

Also, I feel like BA did us dirty this year.

Eh. We had the second most players getting votes.

We have a ton of guys that didn’t start with hype and have to work their way up. Always tougher to do.
